Job description
We are looking for a Database Engineer/Manager to be responsible for the definition, design, implementation, documentation, and ongoing support of enterprise Database Management System (DBMS) environments supporting mission-critical systems. This role delivers complex database solutions across multiple technical domains and plays a key role in ensuring database performance, integrity, security, availability, and scalability. The position requires advanced technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership in large-scale database initiatives., * Design, implement, and maintain enterprise DBMS architectures and standards.
- Install, configure, administer, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Manage high availability, clustering, replication, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor database performance, capacity, integrity, and security; troubleshoot complex issues.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, migrations, and modernization efforts.
- Ensure compliance with security requirements, including STIGs, auditing, and encryption controls.
- Maintain detailed documentation for database environments, configurations, and procedures.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, infrastructure, vendors, and client stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
- Oracle and SQL certified.
- Expert-level experience with enterprise SQL Server and Oracle database administration.
- Strong knowledge of database design, architecture, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with high-availability solutions such as clustering, replication, and Always On.
- Experience with backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and database security practices.
- Ability to develop solutions for complex technical issues impacting multiple systems or teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and project stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance., * Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instance, and cloud database migrations.
- Knowledge of SQL STIG compliance and data encryption technologies such as TDE.
- Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
- Familiarity with AWS RDS, EC2-based databases, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience supporting 24x7 operations and participating in on-call rotations.
