Job description

Our team supports Axpo's energy trading business with mission-critical IT solutions around position management and scheduling. We are in the midst of a fascinating transformation process driven by global trends, market shifts and current energy challenges. Our IT solutions must evolve to manage increasing complexity, speed and data volume. Be part of that journey and bring our systems on the next level to support our demanding business! This role is ideal for an experienced application engineer or developer who brings broad technical skills combined with a strategic mindset. You'll take ownership of critical application development and help shape our technical direction for our position management and scheduling systems. What you will do: Own the end-to-end development of our core applications around position management and scheduling, taking full responsibility for architecture, code quality and long-term maintainability

Drive the strategic modernization of our software stack including transformation to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and cloud-native deployment

Build up and mentor an internal development team to expand our in-house capabilities, fostering knowledge sharing and technical excellence

Cover a wide range of activities from day-to-day operations to shaping the application architecture, defining long-term strategy or driving team-overarching initiatives (e.g. Cloud adoption, Security improvements, DevOps enablement)

Work closely with business stakeholders to get the end-to-end process understanding and propose robust, scalable technical solutions, collaborating with architecture, infrastructure, internal development teams and external partners, You will be part of a very dedicated team which takes responsibility for critical IT applications short-term (operations) and long-term (projects). We collaborate very closely with business stakeholders, IT architects, developers, on-premises & Azure infrastructure system engineers and application vendors to get the most business value out of our IT applications.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, engineering or equivalent

10+ years of experience as application engineer, developer or similar role

Proven foundation in software development, system engineering and IT architecture

Demonstrated experience mentoring developers or strong interest in knowledge sharing and growing technical talent

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to adapt to, manage and influence a variety of business & IT stakeholders.

Excellent analytical skills and collaborative, agile team player

Fluent in English and German is mandatory

One or more of the following are a big plus

Working experience in European Gas markets and/or Energy Trading

Experience with Azure Cloud infrastructure, IaC and Kubernetes

Experience with software development, preferably in .NET and Angular

Experience with relational DBs, preferably SQL
