Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Platform Engineer to build and support a secure, scalable cloud platform as part of a large-scale migration from on premise systems to AWS. This role focuses on delivering core infrastructure, automation, and self-service capabilities while enabling application teams through modern cloud-native patterns. You will collaborate across architecture, DevSecOps, networking, and security teams to ensure compliance with CJIS, COV, and FBI standards. The pay range for this role is $50-$55/hr., * Build and operate core AWS infrastructure (VPCs, Transit Gateway, IAM, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, etc.)

  • Design secure, scalable networking, compute, and storage aligned to cloud landing zones
  • Deploy and manage container platforms (ECS Fargate, EKS, Kubernetes)
  • Develop platform services (API gateways, service mesh, logging, monitoring)
  • Support migration of legacy workloads (VMware, Windows, Linux, middleware) to AWS
  • Implement encryption, secrets management, and secure service communication
  • Build and maintain IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible
  • Create reusable modules, templates, and self-service provisioning tools
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, drift detection, and remediation
  • Establish observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and incident response workflows
  • Support SRE practices including SLOs, SLIs, and reliability improvements
  • Apply automation and AI-driven insights to enhance operations and performance

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building and operating AWS infrastructure
  • Strong proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible
  • Experience with container platforms (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and provisioning
  • Knowledge of hybrid networking (VPN, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway)
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools
  • Understanding of security controls, secrets management, and compliance frameworks (CJIS, COV, etc.)
  • Experience supporting application teams via platform or self-service tooling

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Broad AWS services experience including networking, security, and monitoring tools
  • Experience migrating legacy middleware to containers or AWS services
  • Familiarity with service mesh, API gateways, or event-driven architectures
  • Experience with AWS Service Catalog, AFT, or similar automation tools
  • Knowledge of VMware-to-AWS migration patterns
  • Background in SRE, platform ops, or reliability engineering
  • Relevant certifications (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Security+)
