Job description

Our client is launching a new, first-generation downhole sensor product line and is looking for a junior-level Electrical / PCB Design Engineer to support hardware development from concept through early production. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to work hands-on with real hardware and contribute to a brand-new product in a technically challenging environment., * Design and layout PCBs for sensor and electronics systems using Altium Designer or KiCad

  • Assist with schematic capture, circuit design, and component selection

  • Support prototype builds, bring-up, debugging, and testing of hardware

  • Collaborate with senior engineers on board reviews, design iterations, and documentation

  • Work closely with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing partners during development

Help maintain design files, BOMs, and basic test procedures

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, hardware design, or a related role

  • Hands-on experience with PCB layout and circuit design

  • Familiarity with Altium Designer or KiCad (professional or strong academic/project experience)

  • Basic understanding of analog and/or digital electronics

  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues using lab equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a fast-moving environment * Experience with downhole tools, oil & gas, or harsh-environment electronics

  • Exposure to high-temperature electronics or component selection for extreme environments

  • Basic embedded systems knowledge (MCUs, SPI/I²C, firmware collaboration)

  • Experience supporting first-generation or early-stage products

Familiarity with manufacturing handoff, DFM/DFA concepts

Benefits & conditions

This position is fully onsite 5 days / week in downtown Houston. Based on knowledge and years of experience, this position offers an hourly pay rate of $50-75/hr.
