Job description
Our client is launching a new, first-generation downhole sensor product line and is looking for a junior-level Electrical / PCB Design Engineer to support hardware development from concept through early production. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to work hands-on with real hardware and contribute to a brand-new product in a technically challenging environment., * Design and layout PCBs for sensor and electronics systems using Altium Designer or KiCad

Assist with schematic capture, circuit design, and component selection

Support prototype builds, bring-up, debugging, and testing of hardware

Collaborate with senior engineers on board reviews, design iterations, and documentation

Work closely with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing partners during development
Help maintain design files, BOMs, and basic test procedures
Requirements

2-3 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, hardware design, or a related role

Hands-on experience with PCB layout and circuit design

Familiarity with Altium Designer or KiCad (professional or strong academic/project experience)

Basic understanding of analog and/or digital electronics

Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues using lab equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a fast-moving environment * Experience with downhole tools, oil & gas, or harsh-environment electronics

Exposure to high-temperature electronics or component selection for extreme environments

Basic embedded systems knowledge (MCUs, SPI/I²C, firmware collaboration)

Experience supporting first-generation or early-stage products
Familiarity with manufacturing handoff, DFM/DFA concepts
Benefits & conditions
This position is fully onsite 5 days / week in downtown Houston. Based on knowledge and years of experience, this position offers an hourly pay rate of $50-75/hr.
