Senior Mainframe Developer - COBOL / ADABAS / Natural

This role is ideal for a seasoned mainframe professional with deep expertise in legacy systems support, application maintenance, and production support. The selected consultant will be responsible for maintaining system stability, supporting batch operations, implementing enhancements, and ensuring the continued reliability of this essential housing management platform., Application Maintenance & Support

• Analyze, maintain, and support the existing Tenant Accounting System (TAS)
• Provide ongoing maintenance and enhancements for a COBOL-based mainframe application
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, system failures, and application break/fix events
• Support and monitor existing batch jobs and scheduled processes

Development & Enhancement

• Develop, modify, and maintain application functionality using mainframe technologies
• Implement minor system enhancements and feature updates as needed
• Perform unit testing for all code changes and enhancements
• Ensure system changes meet functional and technical requirements

Documentation & Technical Analysis

• Create and maintain documentation for fixes, enhancements, and system changes
• Develop technical and system documentation on an as-needed basis
• Analyze transaction flows and system processes to support maintenance and optimization
• Assist with knowledge transfer and system continuity efforts

• Extensive experience in mainframe application development, maintenance, and production support
• Strong proficiency in COBOL, including versions through COBOL 6.2
• Experience with Assembler, including versions from System/360 through HLASM
• Hands-on expertise with ADABAS/Natural
• Strong knowledge of IDCAMS utilities
• Experience with VSAM file structures and management
• Solid understanding of: Mainframe system design, Transaction flow analysis, Batch processing and job control, Legacy system maintenance and troubleshooting
• Proven ability to independently support mission-critical production systems, * Prior experience supporting government or public-sector mainframe systems
• Experience with tenant accounting, property management, or financial systems
• Familiarity with large-scale legacy modernization initiatives

• Availability to provide production support and respond to critical system issues as needed
• Ability to work flexible hours, including outside normal business hours when necessary
