Job description

As an Azure DevOps Platform Engineer, you will support the design, administration, and enablement of the Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise platforms. This role focuses on implementing standardized, reusable, and secure DevOps patterns that enable teams to adopt Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices in Azure., Working under the direction of Cloud Infrastructure leadership and in partnership with Enterprise Architecture, IT Cybersecurity, ServiceNow, and the Strategic AI Office, you will help translate platform standards into consumable templates, onboarding processes, and guardrails that accelerate delivery while maintaining governance and sustainability., ADO & GitHub Platform Administration

  • Configure and maintain Azure DevOps projects, repositories, pipelines, agent pools, and permission models and lifecycle management based on best practices and approved standards.
  • Define baseline GitHub Enterprise standards (org/team/repo structure, branch protection, pull request policies, repository hygiene expectations).
  • Support periodic access reviews, usage/capacity reporting and platform hygiene activities.

Platform Standards Implementation

  • Implement and maintain approved standards for:
  • repo structure and branching
  • CI/CD pipelines and approvals
  • artifact and dependency handling
  • Maintain reusable pipeline and repository templates ("golden paths") defined with senior engineers and architects.
  • Build an intake/onboarding process for new teams adopting ADO/GitHub (templates, checklists, and "first project" guidance).

Sandbox & Non-Production Enablement

  • Help design and implement sandbox environment strategy that allows teams to evaluate Azure services safely with guardrails:
  • subscription/management group placement
  • identity and network isolation considerations
  • data protection boundaries
  • cost controls (budgets, auto-expiration, cleanup)
  • Create a repeatable process to provision sandbox environments quickly (ideally via self-service patterns and IaC).

IaC Enablement (Implementation-Focused)

  • Apply organization-approved IaC standards in pipelines (Terraform/Bicep/etc.).
  • Help maintain approved module repositories and example patterns.
  • Assist teams in adopting IaC workflows aligned to security and governance requirements.

Enablement & Knowledge Sharing

  • Draft self-service Knowledge Articles and "how-to" guidance for inclusion in ServiceNow Knowledgebase.
  • Host office hours and provide consultative support to delivery teams.
  • Promote responsible Copilot/AI usage patterns in DevOps workflows as guided by the Strategic AI Office.

Monitor Performance and Adoption

  • Help measure platform adoption and effectiveness by providing regular KPI updates to leadership (usage, standards compliance, onboarding throughput, time-to-provision sandbox)
  • Identify areas for improvement and work with stakeholders to optimize platform standards and patterns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2-4 years' experience in DevOps platform administration, enablement, or engineering (with a strong governance/enablement orientation).
  • Hands-on experience administering and supporting Azure DevOps (projects, repos, permissions, pipelines).
  • Working knowledge of GitHub Enterprise administration concepts (orgs/teams/repos, protections, policy).
  • Familiarity with IaC concepts (Terraform/Bicep/ARM): how standards, modules, state, and pipeline integration typically work.
  • Strong communication and training skills; ability to translate platform standards into practical onboarding and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience establishing platform governance (policy-as-code concepts, controls, audit evidence, and access review routines).
  • Experience integrating DevOps tooling with ITSM systems (ServiceNow), approvals, and change processes.
  • Familiarity with Azure landing zone concepts (management groups, subscriptions, policy) and how DevOps pipelines interact with those controls.
  • Experience supporting Copilot/AI enablement patterns in engineering workflows (prompt libraries, guardrails, training).
