Job description

Job Summary: The candidate will report to the hiring manager and take responsibility for developing control databases, graphics, and programming sequences while providing hands-on startup and commissioning support for building automation projects. Drawing on a solid understanding of electrical circuitry and platforms like Distech or Niagara, the specialist will troubleshoot installation issues, maintain accurate project documentation, and ensure systems operate efficiently to meet building codes and client needs., * Provide Controls database, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as provided by the Design Specialist, project specifications, or other applicable sources. (Distech, Alerton, Tridium, experience preferred)

  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up and commissioning including point-to-point checkout on projects as assigned.
  • Intermediate experience with commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting BACnet MSTP and/or BACnet IP.
  • Support and coordinate with installation personnel, contractors, and project managers, etc. on project sites.
  • Debug and troubleshoot installation issues during both the static and dynamic start up and commissioning of building controls.
  • Provide support to Bosch Building Technologies and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the controls or special systems operation.
  • Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
  • Provide start up documentation including daily logs, check out logs, commissioning documents, etc. as required for assigned projects.
  • Provide hands-on service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.
  • Provide hands-on service support on existing systems ensuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility's building engineers.
  • Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
  • Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
  • As necessary, travel will be required to the job site to complete startup, commissioning and assistance to the onsite personnel to complete the project. This will be on a case-by-case basis, depending on the size, scope, and requirements of the project(s).
  • Deliver on-site customer training and technical support to building engineers, project managers, and staff.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24-hour emergency response as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Tridium, Alerton and/or Distech building controls (field commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting).
  • 3+ years of BACnet MSTP experience with commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • 3+ years of experience with programming and building automation controls database management.
  • 3+ years of experience with troubleshooting basic electric and electronic circuitry, including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
  • 3+ years of experience with proven field experience in building automation controls programming, network integration, and system commissioning.
  • Understanding of AC power circuitry including breakers and multi-phase power (120VAC and greater).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control wiring diagrams., * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electronics-related studies preferred.
  • A Niagara N4, Tridium, or Alerton Certification
  • 5 years of experience programming, servicing, and troubleshooting Distech, Alerton, or Tridium controls systems within building automation operations.
  • 5 years of experience with proven field experience and the ability to debug installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up phases.
  • 5+ years of experience in Construction, Building Automation Controls/Engineering, or related fields within Building Automation.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC operations within a commercial facility (K-12, government facilities, hospitals, and/or data centers).
  • Experience supporting retrofit projects or modernizing existing building automation systems, replacing outdated controls, sensors, or hardware with newer technology.
  • Experience supporting installation personnel and other contractors on project sites.
  • Experience creating start-up documentation, including daily logs, check-out logs, and commissioning documents.
  • Experience providing service support to existing installations, ensuring compliance with building occupancy codes and ongoing efficient operation.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of power tools will be required to effectively perform this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet)
