Job description

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the electrical operations at the data center including main distribution switchgear, operating, and maintaining, repairing ATS, UPS, PDU’s, SSPDU, RPPs, monitoring, and electrical installations. Leading a team consisting of journeyman and apprentice level team members, specifically managing the productivity, safety, quality control (QC) of electrical installations, troubleshooting maintenance and repairs through well-versed knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)..

Electrical Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experience in distribution and electrical capacity management is imperative.

  • Must be able to study and comprehend blueprints and control drawings

  • Organizes, coordinates, and supervises the work of the electrical employees on site projects.

  • Create and develop work plans according to the specific needs / requirements of each electrical project.

  • Manage manpower for electrical repair, maintenance, and installation projects, ensuring that all logistics are covered properly.

  • Establish, adjust, and maintain work sequences to meet electrical project schedules and timelines.

  • Read and interpret specifications, contract documents, and building plans to determine layouts.

  • Oversee and monitor installation and troubleshooting of electrical wires and components

  • Follow blueprints to ensure that wires and electrical outlets are properly run and placed.

  • Oversee the work done by electrical tradesmen and ensure that they perform their duties according to set procedures and instructions.

  • Ascertain that all work and workers follow PPE and safety procedures, protocols and codes are properly enforced, that all workers work according to set safety protocols.

  • Assure all NEC and NFP 70 E protocols are enforced

  • Manage the administer MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical facilities / data center facility equipment

  • Recommend equipment and supplies related to electrical maintenance activities, and prepare job estimates for maintenance needs.

  • Perform visual inspections of work areas in a bid to determine maintenance requirements, and appropriate repair methods.

  • Prepare and maintain reports and records related to electrical work activities and ensure that expenditures are monitored on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of field experience

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times

  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities

  • Must be able to access all parts of the company equipment

  • Experienced with MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical facilities / data center facility equipment

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience working in a data center environment

  • Knowledge of commercial electrical systems, NEC, and local codes, a Masters license is a plus

  • Experience managing the company’s type of facilities, equipment, and events preferred

  • Experience working in ATS, RPP, PDU, UPS, VLA battery

  • Project Management experience preferred

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills

  • Strong change agent

  • Electrical trade certifications or equivalent military facilities training / certification

Benefits & conditions

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this role is $67,000 - $102,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
