Job description

The Telecommunications Engineering Technician I provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 telecommunications support across the SOFSANet enterprise and associated sites. This role assists in the design and analysis of telecommunications networks, configures and maintains telecommunications systems, and ensures network connectivity for end users across the PEO SOFSA enterprise., * Troubleshoot, implement, and provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 telecommunications support across SOFSANet

  • Assist in the design and analysis of telecommunication networks
  • Create plans and drawings detailing the layout of routers, circuits, cables, switches, and other telecommunications equipment
  • Provide regular maintenance and ensure telecommunication devices function properly
  • Interact with contractor and Government staff, communicating technical issues in non-technical language
  • Provide customer support for technical requests, process data to locate possible issues, and process voicemail and calling card requests
  • Configure and optimize telephone systems and services, voicemail, and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) communication systems
  • Detect, understand, and initiate fixes for network problems
  • Design, maintain, and assess current and future telecommunications systems and equipment
  • Ensure network connectivity for end users
  • Follow strict privacy regulations when reviewing telecommunication logs and accounts

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of previous experience performing telecommunications support duties
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN networking, PBX systems, voicemail platforms, and telecommunications circuit design
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences

Certification Requirements

  • DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for Network Operations Specialist (Work Role 441) - Basic Qualification Level
