Job description
The Network Administrator II provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 network support for the SOFSANet enterprise. This role is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and coordination of enterprise data, voice, and video networks, and provides high-level technical expertise across LAN/WAN infrastructure supporting PEO SOFSA operations., * Perform Tier 2 and Tier 3 network support for SOFSANet
- Test and analyze elements of network facilities including power, software, security features, communications devices, communications lines, modems, and terminals
- Plan, model, simulate, design, install, maintain, manage, and coordinate the enterprise network
- Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources using software and hardware tools; identify and diagnose complex problems affecting network performance
- Engineer enterprise data, voice, and video networks for the PEO SOFSA Enterprise
- Establish and operate network test facilities
- Maintain secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks
- Work with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management
- Provide high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology including LAN/WAN hardware, switches, bridges, and routers
- Study vendor products to determine those that best meet the Government’s needs
- Provide guidance and direction for junior network support technicians
Requirements
- 8 years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systems and network administration, including 2 years of specialized experience related to the assigned task
- Extensive experience in network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure
- Strong background in DoD network (dot.mil) operations
- Degree requirement may be substituted with experience directly supporting a DoD organization’s IT/network operations
Certification Requirements
- Appropriate certificate for system(s) being administered
- DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for Network Operations Specialist (Work Role 441) - Intermediate Qualification Level
