Job description

The Network Administrator II provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 network support for the SOFSANet enterprise. This role is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and coordination of enterprise data, voice, and video networks, and provides high-level technical expertise across LAN/WAN infrastructure supporting PEO SOFSA operations., * Perform Tier 2 and Tier 3 network support for SOFSANet

Test and analyze elements of network facilities including power, software, security features, communications devices, communications lines, modems, and terminals
Plan, model, simulate, design, install, maintain, manage, and coordinate the enterprise network
Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources using software and hardware tools; identify and diagnose complex problems affecting network performance
Engineer enterprise data, voice, and video networks for the PEO SOFSA Enterprise
Establish and operate network test facilities
Maintain secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks
Work with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management
Provide high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology including LAN/WAN hardware, switches, bridges, and routers
Study vendor products to determine those that best meet the Government’s needs
Provide guidance and direction for junior network support technicians

Requirements

8 years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systems and network administration, including 2 years of specialized experience related to the assigned task
Extensive experience in network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure
Strong background in DoD network (dot.mil) operations
Degree requirement may be substituted with experience directly supporting a DoD organization’s IT/network operations

Certification Requirements

Appropriate certificate for system(s) being administered
DoD 8140 DCWF requirements for Network Operations Specialist (Work Role 441) - Intermediate Qualification Level
