Job description
Resource 1 is seeking a Senior Visual FoxPro Developer to support a mission-critical engineering application environment for a leading aerospace and aviation organization. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing a legacy Visual FoxPro application while assisting with a long-term modernization initiative to migrate the platform to a modern Microsoft technology stack. The ideal candidate will possess deep Visual FoxPro expertise, strong SQL Server experience, and the ability to work closely with engineering and business stakeholders to support critical operational systems., * Support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance a mission-critical Visual FoxPro application.
- Work directly with Engineering and business users to gather requirements and implement application enhancements.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, defects, and support requests.
- Maintain and optimize Visual FoxPro free-table database structures (DBF files).
- Develop and support SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and integrations.
- Document application functionality, architecture, and support processes.
- Participate in knowledge transfer activities and help reduce risk associated with legacy system ownership.
- Collaborate with internal development teams on modernization initiatives.
- Assist in the phased migration of existing Visual FoxPro functionality to a C#/.NET architecture.
- Provide technical recommendations regarding application support, enhancement, and modernization efforts., This role supports a business-critical Bill of Materials (BOM) application used within a complex engineering environment. The immediate focus will be supporting and enhancing the existing Visual FoxPro platform while helping execute a phased modernization strategy.
The current workload is heavily focused on Visual FoxPro support, maintenance, and enhancement, while also providing an opportunity to contribute to a long-term migration effort. Candidates with experience supporting legacy systems and participating in application modernization initiatives will be highly valued.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in both support and development capacities while helping bridge the gap between a legacy Visual FoxPro environment and a modern .NET architecture.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Strong hands-on Visual FoxPro development experience.
- Experience supporting Visual FoxPro versions 6 through 10.
- Strong understanding of Visual FoxPro free-table environments and database architecture.
- Microsoft SQL Server experience (SQL Server 2012 and newer).
- Experience supporting and enhancing complex business-critical applications.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work directly with business users, engineering teams, and technical stakeholders.
- Must currently reside in South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County).

Preferred Qualifications
- C# development experience.
- Experience developing or supporting Web APIs.
- Experience modernizing or migrating legacy applications to .NET technologies.
- WPF desktop application development experience.
- Experience integrating legacy applications with ERP systems and modern platforms.
- Experience working in manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, aviation, MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul), inventory management, or Bill of Materials (BOM) environments.
