Job description

We’re supporting a major Technology & Transformation programme delivering some of the UK’s most critical Defence & Security projects.

This is an opportunity for experienced Full Stack Developers to work on highly secure, large-scale government systems that directly contribute to national security and public sector innovation. You’ll join high-performing engineering teams delivering modern digital services across complex environments.

The role offers exposure to cloud-native development, secure software engineering, modern DevSecOps practices and user-focused application delivery within mission-critical programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deploy secure web applications within Defence & Security environments
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle within Agile teams
  • Build responsive front-end applications using modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Develop secure and scalable back-end services and APIs
  • Implement DevSecOps and secure coding best practices
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and integration activities
  • Work closely with UX/UI teams, architects, delivery managers and stakeholders
  • Translate operational and business requirements into technical solutions
  • Participate in security assessments, remediation activities and compliance initiatives
  • Produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • React, Angular or Vue.js
  • HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Node.js, Java or Python
  • RESTful API development
  • SQL and NoSQL databases
  • CI/CD and DevOps tooling
  • Agile software delivery
  • Secure software engineering practices
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within Defence, Government or secure environments
  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles
  • UX/UI awareness and user-centred design principles
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • Experience working with government standards and compliance requirements
