Job description

We are delighted to have been engaged on an exclusive basis by a membership organisation that represents a well-loved and historic industry that we’ve all interacted with at some point. Our client is seeking an IT Manager, owing to the retirement of a long-standing incumbent. This is an important role within the organisation, taking ownership of the IT environment, ensuring it meets the needs of distinct groups of individual stakeholders and working with multiple external partners to deliver and manage reliable and scalable services. The organisation is fairly small (<50 heads) but operates a range of diverse services that are vital to its wider membership, so there’s a reasonable degree of complexity. It’s important that the IT Manager can work closely with users to understand their requirements, provide expert guidance to senior stakeholders, align systems with business needs and guide all in the organisation through their effective adoption. The role remains pretty hands-on, including day-to-day administration and support of the (primarily Microsoft-based) IT estate and liaising with third-party suppliers as needed. IT Manager - responsibilities

  • Own & maintain a clear view of the organisation’s systems landscape
  • Engage stakeholders across the group to fully understand requirements
  • Translate business needs into effective technical solutions
  • Ensure the IT estate is effectively monitored and maintained
  • Oversee security, performance, scalability, reliability and resilience
  • Drive the simplification of systems and automation of processes
  • Ensure effective integration between systems and across business processes
  • Provide hands-on support and maintenance
  • Be primary technical contact for third parties and oversee their delivery
  • Manage IT budgets and contracts, delivering value for money
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, cyber security & governance standards IT Manager - requirements

Requirements

  • Experience in the hands-on management of business-critical systems
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 including Sharepoint and Teams
  • Experience in Azure cloud environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management experience
  • Strong third party supplier management
  • Experienced in proactively managing secure, stable IT environments
  • Able to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-techies
  • Experience of ERP or CRM systems (especially Dynamics) would be useful
  • Understanding of cyber security (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST) desirable
