Job description

We are looking for an experienced, practical and commercially minded IT Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day technology environment.

This is a broad, hands-on position covering cloud infrastructure, Microsoft 365, networking, cyber security, telephony, remote-working technology and technical support. You will be responsible for ensuring that our systems remain secure, reliable, well documented and capable of supporting a growing, internationally distributed workforce.

The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between strategic planning and hands-on technical work. One day you may be reviewing the company’s cyber-security controls or planning an Azure improvement project; the next, you may be investigating an AVD performance issue, changing a firewall rule or resolving a business-critical telephony incident.

This role offers a clear opportunity to develop into an IT Director position as the organisation and its technology requirements continue to grow.

  • Establish appropriate service levels, escalation procedures and incident-management processes.
  • Provide senior-level technical support for complex or business-critical issues.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, asset records, network diagrams, administrator-access records and operating procedures.
  • Manage user onboarding, role changes and offboarding, ensuring access is granted and removed securely.
  • Identify recurring support issues and implement permanent technical or process improvements.

  • Manage Azure Virtual Desktop, including host pools, session hosts, user access, performance, availability and capacity.
  • Administer FSLogix profiles and troubleshoot profile, storage, login and application issues.
  • Manage Azure networking, including virtual networks, network security groups, routing, gateways and connectivity.
  • Review Azure usage and expenditure and identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain appropriate backup, recovery and business-continuity arrangements for cloud services.
  • Implement secure administrative access, role-based permissions and appropriate monitoring.

Microsoft 365

  • Administer Microsoft 365, including user accounts, groups, licences and security settings.
  • Manage SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Support the structure, permissions, governance and ongoing development of SharePoint sites and document libraries.
  • Manage file sharing, retention, version control and access to company information.
  • Maintain email-security settings and the company’s email-signature management software.
  • Support Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online and related collaboration services where required.
  • Help users adopt Microsoft 365 tools effectively and securely.

Cyber Security and Compliance

  • Take operational ownership of the company’s cyber-security controls.
  • Lead preparation for Cyber Essentials and, where required, Cyber Essentials Plus.
  • Coordinate penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and remediation work.
  • Maintain security policies, risk registers, evidence files and compliance documentation.
  • Manage patching, endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, access controls and privileged accounts.
  • Review security alerts and coordinate the response to suspected cyber incidents.
  • Conduct regular access reviews and ensure that leavers and dormant accounts are handled promptly.
  • Support security-awareness training and phishing-simulation exercises.
  • Work with suppliers and senior management to ensure identified vulnerabilities are resolved within agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to disaster-recovery, business-continuity and cyber-incident-response planning.

  • Administer firewalls, VPNs, routing, DNS and secure remote-access services.
  • Implement and review firewall policies, including IP whitelisting and access restrictions.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, latency, packet-loss and remote-access issues.
  • Maintain secure connectivity between users, offices, cloud environments and third-party platforms.
  • Regularly review firewall and VPN configurations to remove obsolete or excessive access.

Telephony and Contact-Centre Technology

  • Administer and support the company’s 3CX telephone system.
  • Manage extensions, call routing, queues, recordings, permissions and reporting.
  • Support outbound dialler platforms and their integration with business processes.
  • Troubleshoot call-quality, connectivity, headset and user-access issues.
  • Work with telecoms and software providers to resolve faults and implement changes.
  • Ensure telephony configurations support business requirements while remaining secure and compliant.

Endpoint and Remote Monitoring

  • Administer the company’s remote monitoring and management platform.
  • Maintain visibility of endpoint health, security status, patching and software versions.
  • Manage laptops, desktops and other company devices throughout their lifecycle.
  • Standardise device builds, security configurations and application deployment.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and alerts to identify issues before they affect users.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventories and support equipment purchasing and replacement planning.

  • Review supplier performance, contracts, licences and renewal requirements.
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations and technology-improvement projects.
