Job description
- Network Security: The Network Designer should understand network security protocols, firewalls, and virtual private networks (VPNs) to ensure the security of the LAN environment.
- Network Troubleshooting: The ability to provide level 3 Incident/Problem Management support to diagnose and resolve network issues quickly and efficiently is crucial. The Network Designer should be skilled in using network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve network problems in a preventative, proactive and reactive method to meet service restoration and network availability objectives, using network analysis and monitoring tools.
- Shall work collaboratively with other stakeholders (Transport, Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN), Structured Cabling, Project Manager, etc.) in focused, agile-inspired sprint teams.
- Network Performance Optimization: The Network Designer should possess knowledge of network performance metrics and the ability to optimize network performance through load balancing, traffic shaping, and Quality of Service (QoS) techniques.
- Network Documentation: The Network Designer should have excellent documentation skills to create and maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and other technical documentation. This ensures that the network infrastructure is well-documented and easily understandable for future reference.
- Project management: The Network Designer should have the requisite skills to plan, execute, and deliver network design projects within the manufacturing space. This includes managing timelines, resources, and coordinating with other teams or stakeholders.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and end-users. The Network Designer should be able to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Continuous Learning: The Network Designer should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. This includes acquiring new skills and certifications as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Network Engineer (design)
- Network Design and Architecture: The Network Designer should have expertise in designing and architecting complex Local Area Network (LAN) environments in the manufacturing space, including knowledge of routing, VLAN’s, subnetting, and voice/video protocols.
- LAN, Technologies: Proficiency in various LAN, technologies such as Wired and Wireless Campus Ethernet is required to design and implement a robust campus sized network infrastructure., * Must be able to read the current configuration and be able to translate that configuration to a design.
- CCNA certification or equivalent work experience 4-5 years.
- Knowledge of RFID passive and active technologies preferred but not required.
