Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of mission-critical electrical infrastructure for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in electrical power systems, redundancy architectures, power distribution, and data center design standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
This role provides technical leadership for electrical engineering design, construction support, commissioning, and operational optimization of critical facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Design & Development
- Lead the electrical design of data center facilities, including:
- Utility service entrance systems
- Medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution
- UPS systems
- Backup generator systems
- Switchgear and switchboards
- PDUs and RPPs
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Lighting and emergency power systems
- Develop single-line diagrams, load studies, short-circuit analyses, coordination studies, and arc flash assessments.
- Ensure designs meet Tier III/Tier IV reliability requirements and client performance objectives.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents for quality and compliance.
Project Leadership
- Serve as the lead electrical engineer on multiple data center projects.
- Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, networking, and construction teams.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Construction & Commissioning
- Support equipment procurement and factory witness testing.
- Review submittals and respond to RFIs.
- Participate in site inspections and construction quality reviews.
- Lead electrical commissioning activities and troubleshooting.
- Support startup and operational readiness programs.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with:
- NEC
- NFPA
- IEEE
- NETA
- ANSI
- Local building codes
- Apply industry best practices related to uptime, resiliency, and energy efficiency.
- Support sustainability initiatives and energy optimization efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing or supporting mission-critical facilities or data centers.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical power distribution systems
- UPS technologies
- Generator systems
- Protection and controls
- Commissioning practices
- Experience with electrical analysis software such as:
- ETAP
- SKM PowerTools
- EasyPower
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
