Job description

Role Summary We are seeking a hands-on Technical Writer to develop and maintain high-quality User Manuals , Service Manuals (mandatory), and Cybersecurity Manuals (good to have). The ideal candidate should be proficient with Oxygen XML and Adobe FrameMaker , skilled in technical illustrations using Adobe Photoshop , Adobe Illustrator , and Snagit , and experienced with CMS platforms such as SDL (mandatory) and Astoria (good to have).This role involves continuous interaction with DevOps, UI/UX, V&V, PSR (Cybersecurity), and Program SMEs (LSI, LSD, and LPI) to gather inputs, clarify technical details, and collaborate effectively to ensure timely and accurate completion of all manuals., Key Responsibilities Plan, author, and maintain User Manuals and Service Manuals aligned to product releases and service operations.Create and update installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.Develop task-oriented, structured content using Oxygen XML and Adobe FrameMaker (DITA or structured authoring).Produce clear visuals, callouts, and schematics using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Snagit; create short instructional clips as needed using Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (nice to have).Manage content lifecycle in SDL (mandatory) and Astoria (nice to have), ensuring version control, reuse, metadata, and governance.Work closely with DevOps (builds, deployment changes), UI/UX (interface updates), V&V (test outcomes and validation), PSR/Cybersecurity (controls and mitigations), and Program SMEs (LSI, LSD, and LPI) to secure approvals and technical accuracy on the manuals.Ensure documentation adheres to style guides, terminology standards, and compliance requirements relevant to the domain (e.g., traceability, audit readiness).Drive documentation schedules, maintain change and HII logs, and maintain documentation quality metrics.Conduct content reviews with LSI and service-readiness documentation for field teams.

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications Manuals Expertise - User Manuals and Service Manuals (mandatory), with a strong portfolio demonstrating complex procedures and field-service content.Authoring Tools - Oxygen XML and Adobe FrameMaker (mandatory), with experience in structured authoring/DITA or similar models.Illustration Tools - Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Snagit (mandatory) for technical graphics and annotated workflows.CMS - SDL (mandatory) for content management, versioning, workflow, and publishing.Collaboration - Proven experience working closely with DevOps, UI/UX, V&V, PSR/Cybersecurity, and SMEs (LSI, LSD, and LPI) to gather inputs and complete manuals.Communication - Excellent written communication, information architecture, and stakeholder management skills.

Cybersecurity Manuals exposureCMS: Astoria knowledge.Video: Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve for short how-to videos/micro-learning artifacts.Familiarity with compliance frameworks in regulated domains (e.g., healthcare, aerospace, or industrial systems), including traceability and audit expectations.Understanding of single-sourcing, component content management, and multi-channel publishing (PDF, web help, service portals).
