Job description

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives. This role involves guiding cross-functional teams through requirement analysis, solution design, coding standards, testing, and deployment while ensuring high quality, security, and performance. The position requires strong project and stakeholder management skills to drive product enhancements and operational excellence. The successful candidate will foster innovation, oversee risk mitigation, and promote continuous improvement within agile environments to support Walmart’s technology roadmap and strategic goals.

About the team:

The content services team at VIZIO develops core services that enable user interactions on the VIZIO OS platform. This team delivers scalable, high-quality software components through iterative development and continuous integration. Members collaborate to design, build, and maintain robust solutions aligned with business and technical goals. The team emphasizes expertise in platform design, product strategy, and generative artificial intelligence, fostering a delivery-focused environment that supports innovation and excellence across the platform experience. Strong skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, and software engineering are essential to drive successful outcomes.

What you’ll do…

  • Lead requirement analysis and scoping to align software solutions with business objectives and priorities.

  • Guide teams in assessing feasibility, prioritizing features, and defining minimum viable products to meet core needs.

  • Oversee solution design, ensuring modular, scalable, and resilient architectures that address functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Direct coding standards, tool selection, and implementation of secure, maintainable, and high-availability software components.

  • Manage testing strategies, including automation and coverage, to ensure quality and performance compliance.

  • Drive program monitoring, defect resolution, and continuous integration/deployment processes to maintain product health.

  • Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering performance and adherence to company policies and values.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software engineering with strong knowledge of architecture, scalability, and design patterns.

  • Proven ability to analyze and scope complex requirements, including functional and non-functional aspects, aligned with business objectives.

  • Expertise in project and stakeholder management to drive technology roadmaps and deliver milestones effectively.

  • Proficiency in DevOps architecture and cloud financial management to optimize operational efficiency.

  • Skilled in guiding teams through agile methodologies, user story creation, and MVP development.

  • Strong background in defect management, root cause analysis, and continuous integration/deployment processes.

  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing engineering teams., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
