Job description

This project involves the modernization of the State of New York’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) by upgrading and consolidating multiple aging legacy systems into a single, comprehensive platform. The goal is to improve data management, system performance, reliability, security, and data integrity while providing a centralized solution to support homeless services programs. The selected Database Architect will play a key role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing Oracle databases, supporting ETL processes, and enhancing reporting and dashboard capabilities. The project also focuses on improving data governance through proper documentation, metadata management, and data lineage, enabling better business operations, strategic decision-making, and long-term scalability of the HMIS environment., Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, analysts, and IT teams to understand data requirements and provide updates on data-related activities. Participate in meetings to gather business and technical requirements and support project planning and execution. Maintain detailed logs of data management activities, issues, and resolutions to ensure proper documentation and tracking. Ensure compliance with organizational data policies, security standards, and industry best practices. Continuously learn and adopt new data management tools, technologies, and processes as required by the project. Assist in documenting data sources, data definitions, metadata, and data lineage to support data governance initiatives. Develop and execute complex SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data for reporting and business needs. Support the generation and distribution of reports and dashboards by providing accurate and reliable data. Monitor data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems and identify potential issues or discrepancies. Complete assigned project and operational tasks within established timelines and quality standards. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues to support business operations and project objectives. Ensure database and data management activities align with project goals and contribute to the successful delivery of the HMIS modernization initiative. Requirements

7+ Years experience in designing logical and physical database models. 7+ Years experience designing oracle databases including triggers and packages. 7+ Years experience in performing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) techniques and flagging any failures. 5+ Years experience with SSIS design and development. 5+ Years experience in SQL programming including writing complex queries utilizing JSON in Oracle. 5+ Years experience using SQL Reporting Services (SSRS). 3+ Years experience with participating in meetings to understand data needs and communicate updates on data status. Maintaining detailed logs of data management activities and issues.
