Job description
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls aligned with NIST 800-53 Rev. 5 across the AWS GovCloud platform.
- Support RMF processes including security control assessments, ATO sustainment, and POA&M management.
- Conduct vulnerability scanning using Nessus and approved tools, tracking and coordinating remediation of findings.
- Maintain and update ATO documentation, security findings records, and continuous monitoring artifacts.
- Support IAM/PIV integration, Zero Trust principle implementation, and HSPD-12 compliance.
- Assist with security monitoring, log analysis, and incident response coordination.
- Produce monthly ATO reporting, security compliance status, and audit readiness documentation.
- Maintain compliance with VA Directive 6500, VA Handbook 6500, and all applicable Federal cybersecurity policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science, or related field (4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute)
- 7+ years of information security engineering experience in Federal cloud environments
- Hands-on experience with RMF processes, NIST 800-53 security controls, and ATO sustainment
- Proficiency with Nessus and continuous monitoring frameworks
- Experience with IAM/PIV integration, Zero Trust principles, and Federal identity management standards
- Familiarity with VA cybersecurity directives, FISMA, and FedRAMP compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent certification
- Direct experience with SNOWCAM or comparable VA continuous monitoring platforms
- Familiarity with AWS GovCloud security services including Security Hub and GuardDuty
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or Computer Science (Required)
Experience:
- Federal cloud cybersecurity engineering and RMF: 7 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- CompTIA Security+ (Preferred)
- CISSP or equivalent (Preferred)
