Daedalus Teks is seeking a Hardware & Software Specialist - In-Store Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, upgrading, and documenting computer hardware and software issues for residential and business clients.
This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience with desktops, laptops, operating systems, hardware replacement, software troubleshooting, customer service, and organized documentation.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair desktops, laptops, all-in-one computers, and other common computer systems.
Troubleshoot hardware issues including RAM, storage drives, motherboards, power supplies, batteries, screens, charging ports, fans, keyboards, touchpads, and other internal components.
Troubleshoot software issues including Windows errors, startup problems, driver issues, application problems, malware, viruses, slow performance, system crashes, and operating system corruption.
Perform operating system installs, resets, upgrades, updates, and basic configuration.
Perform data transfers, backups, cloning, and basic data recovery tasks when applicable.
Install and replace hardware components such as SSDs, RAM, batteries, fans, screens, and other repair parts.
Perform internal cleaning, dust removal, thermal paste replacement, and general system maintenance.
Assist with printer setup, email setup, account configuration, software installation, and general technology support.
Test devices before and after repair to confirm issues are resolved.
Communicate clearly with customers regarding diagnostics, repair recommendations, timelines, and approved work.
Document all work performed inside the helpdesk ticketing system, including diagnostics, repair notes, parts used, customer approvals, test results, and final resolution.
Follow internal procedures for intake, diagnostics, repair, customer communication, invoicing, and device pickup.
Keep the repair area organized, clean, and professional.
Assist with walk-in customers, phone calls, and basic front-desk technical questions when needed.
Work with other technicians and team members to resolve more advanced repair issues.
Requirements
Experience troubleshooting and repairing computers, laptops, or similar devices.
Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, drivers, updates, file systems, and common software issues.
Basic understanding of computer hardware, including RAM, SSDs, HDDs, motherboards, power supplies, cooling systems, batteries, and displays.
Ability to safely disassemble and reassemble laptops and desktops.
Ability to follow instructions, document work clearly, and stay organized.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to explain technical issues in simple terms to customers.
Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.
Experience with ticketing systems, repair shop software, or helpdesk documentation is a plus.
Experience with macOS, Apple devices, soldering, networking, data recovery, cybersecurity, or business IT support is a plus.

Pay: $13.00 - $14.50 per hour
