Job description

  • Diagnose complex faults across a wide range of vehicles
  • Identify and resolve electrical, electronic, and software-related issues
  • Use advanced diagnostic tools and systems
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, fault codes, and live data
  • Support other technicians with difficult diagnostic cases
  • Carry out repairs following diagnosis where required
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Diagnostic Technician / Master Technician
  • Strong knowledge of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems
  • Experience using advanced or dealer-level diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work independently and solve complex faults
  • Experience across multiple vehicle brands
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) preferred
  • MOT Tester licence beneficial but not essential, * How many years of diagnostic experience do you have?
  • What diagnostic tools/systems are you most confident using?
  • Can you describe a complex fault you successfully diagnosed?
  • Do you have experience with electrical and CAN bus systems?
  • Do you hold an MOT licence?

About the company

We are a busy, well-established independent garage and MOT station based in Waltham Abbey. Our team currently consists of 3 mechanics, 1 MOT tester, and 1 office administrator. We have a strong and consistent workflow, and we are now looking to strengthen our team with a highly skilled Diagnostic Technician. The RoleThis is a specialist role focused on advanced diagnostics-not general servicing or routine mechanical work. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex faults, particularly electrical and software-related issues, and supporting the wider team with problem-solving.
