Job description

We are a established specialty subcontractor serving the New England commercial construction market, focused on Division 8, Division 10, Division 11 , and Division 14 ., We’re looking for a Construction Estimator with subcontractor experience who can do more than just take off plans - someone who understands how to win work, manage bid strategy, and support the sales process.

This role blends estimating + inside sales, working closely with general contractors, vendors, and internal teams to position projects competitively and convert bids into awarded work.

What You’ll Do

  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, RFIs, and addenda with a strong focus on Divisions 8, 10, 11, and/or 14 scopes
  • Perform takeoffs and develop accurate, competitive project estimates
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor pricing to build complete project costs
  • Prepare and submit proposals, budgets, and change orders
  • Communicate with GCs, architects, and vendors to clarify scope and requirements
  • Track bid schedules and ensure on-time, organized submissions
  • Actively follow up on bids and support closing opportunities
  • Identify value engineering options and positioning strategies to win projects
  • Participate in internal handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition to operations
  • Continuously improve estimating processes, templates, and accuracy

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with a subcontractor (preferred in Divisions 8, 10, 11, or 14)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong experience with takeoffs, estimating, and bid coordination
  • Comfortable in a customer-facing role (email, phone, follow-ups)
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple bids at once
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of their work and pipeline
  • Strong familiarity with estimating software, Excel, and/or CRM tools
