Job description
Bluebox Communications Ltd is looking for a practical, customer-focused engineer to join our small telecoms team.
This role would suit someone who already has some experience in telecoms, hosted phones, VoIP, cabling, broadband, Wi-Fi, routers, switches or similar, but who is looking to develop into a more rounded telecoms engineer.
You do not need to be the finished article. We are happy to train the right person, particularly around hosted phone systems, 3CX, business routers, Wi-Fi and customer support.
The role is a mix of office-based support, remote customer support and on-site installation work across the North West. One day you may be helping a customer with a phone system issue, another day you may be installing IP phones, tidying a network cabinet, helping with Wi-Fi, or assisting with cabling on a customer site.
What you will be doing
- Supporting business customers with hosted phone systems, VoIP and telecoms-related issues
- Installing and configuring IP phones, routers, switches and Wi-Fi access points
- Helping with 3CX and other hosted phone system installations
- Attending customer sites for installations, fault-finding and project work
- Assisting with Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, patching, testing and cabinet tidying
- Supporting broadband, connectivity and phone system installations
- Working with colleagues to deliver small business telecoms projects
- Keeping clear records of work completed and any follow-up actions
- Delivering a neat, professional service to customers
Requirements
- Some experience in telecoms, VoIP, cabling, broadband, Wi-Fi, connectivity or a similar technical role
- Basic understanding of routers, switches, Wi-Fi and IP phones
- Comfortable speaking to customers and explaining things clearly
- Practical hands-on ability and a willingness to learn
- Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a small team
- Full UK driving licence preferred, as site work is mainly across the North West
Useful but not essential
- Experience with hosted phone systems, VoIP or 3CX
- Experience installing or supporting IP handsets
- Experience with Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, patch panels and cabinet work
- Experience with business broadband, SIP trunks or leased lines
- Experience with Wi-Fi access points or PoE switches
Benefits & conditions
- Varied work across telecoms, VoIP, cabling, Wi-Fi and connectivity
- Training and support from an experienced small team
- A mix of office, remote support and customer site work
- Company pension
- On-site parking
- Opportunity to develop into a more complete telecoms engineer
This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys practical technical work, likes dealing with customers and wants to build a long-term career in business telecoms.
