Job description

MSM Technology is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Infrastructure Operations Office (IOO). The Cloud Engineer will provide cloud administration, automation, and infrastructure support across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining cloud and network infrastructure while ensuring high availability, operational efficiency, and compliance with federal security standards.

  • Administer, configure, and maintain Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud environments.
  • Support Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) solution to ensure system performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Design, implement, and maintain DevSecOps pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation.
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls in accordance with FedRAMP and federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Develop cloud architecture, operational procedures, security policies, and automation strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain LAN, WAN, and Internet infrastructure to ensure network reliability and performance.
  • Perform network monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and capacity planning to maximize system uptime.
  • Conduct network modeling, performance testing, and infrastructure optimization initiatives.
  • Administer network security technologies and ensure compliance with organizational security standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate network hardware and software integration, upgrades, and lifecycle activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to network support personnel and end-user support teams.
  • Develop documentation, standard operating procedures, and technical recommendations for continuous service improvement.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, or related IT infrastructure role (Journeyman level).
  • Experience administering Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
  • Experience supporting IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS cloud services.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP and federal cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting LAN, WAN, and Internet technologies.
  • Experience monitoring network performance, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and optimizing infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of network architecture, routing, switching, firewalls, and security technologies.
  • Experience supporting cloud and network infrastructure upgrades and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and independently resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal government environments.
  • Experience developing cloud automation and deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, and performance management tools.
  • Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, Security+, Network+, CCNA, Terraform, Kubernetes) are preferred.
