Job description

The Junior Applications Engineer takes direct ownership of assigned projects while working within a collaborative team environment where senior engineers provide guidance and review on more complex engagements. This role is responsible for managing customer projects end-to-end, including takeoffs, bills of materials, and AutoCAD submittal packages, with the expectation of growing independence over time. The Junior Applications Engineer will also handle technical inquiries, assist with documentation, and contribute to overall customer success., * Own and manage assigned customer projects independently from start to finish, with senior review available on more complex engagements

  • Respond to customer technical inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and escalate complex cases to senior engineers as needed
  • Prepare and deliver product demonstrations and proof-of-concept setups, independently on assigned accounts
  • Support the configuration, testing, and deployment of products within customer environments
  • Develop and update technical documentation including user guides, FAQs, and application notes
  • Reproduce and document customer-reported issues, and work with engineering teams to facilitate resolution
  • Participate in customer meetings and calls, taking a lead role on owned projects
  • Review purchase orders, fixture schedules, and drawings to perform material takeoffs and convert them into bills of materials, owning this process on assigned projects
  • Build and maintain bills of materials for lighting projects, independently on owned accounts with senior oversight on larger or more complex jobs
  • Develop lighting submittal packages in AutoCAD, including drawings and documentation for customer sign-off and approval, with senior review available as needed
  • Continuously build product and domain knowledge through training, self-study, and shadowing senior team members
  • Contribute to team knowledge base and internal resources

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Sales, or a related technical field
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in a technical role; internship or co-op experience counts toward this requirement
  • Fundamental understanding of engineering principles and a demonstrated ability to learn technical subject matter quickly
  • Basic familiarity with scripting, software configuration, or integration concepts
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage task queues with guidance from senior staff, * Understanding of basic lighting and power concepts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD; experience with Bluebeam is a plus
  • Familiarity with CRM and project management platforms such as NetSuite and Asana
  • Exposure to customer support, technical writing, or lab/testing environments
