Intermediate Architect

Abelow Sherman Architects is a design-focused architecture firm based in New York City. We are involved in a range of work, mostly single-family residential, and including new buildings. We are looking for an individual with exceptional design skills, strong 3D skills, and experience in high-end residential design. A minimum of three years professional experience is required. Candidate must be interested and experienced in the production of the highest quality drawings. The firm and the candidate share a commitment to design excellence and client satisfaction.

Working Environment at ASA:

ASA is located in the New York City metropolitan area. We are utilizing online systems and tools to help emulate the open, collaborative studio conditions that we all enjoy. The candidate should have the ability to maintain technology required for remote work. Site visits in the City or surrounding areas, and office meetings in Brooklyn, NY, may be required, * Vectorworks expertise required. This is the core tool in our workflow, and candidates need to be fluent with it.

• Experience using 3-D modeling software
• Work examples that demonstrate strong design sensibility
• Collaborative sensibility, for design team and client interaction
• Ability to juggle multiple assignments concurrently
• Excellent English language communication skills
• Legally eligible to work in the United States

Because of our size (about a dozen architects), team members gain broad exposure and responsibility as quickly as they demonstrate ability, participating in projects from schematic design through construction administration. We are seeking candidates with a demonstrated ability to produce clear, well-organized construction documents and design drawings, working under direction on construction details and assemblies, with high graphic standards, including intentional lineweights, clear annotations, and well-composed sheet layouts. We welcome individual skillsets in building science, Artificial Intelligence, or web design.
