Job description

  • End-User Support: Provide frontline technical support to employees in person or via remote access.
  • System Maintenance: Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware (computers, printers) and software.
  • Network Administration: Monitor LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN connections, and maintain firewalls and antivirus protocols.
  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Set up workstations for new hires and wipe or recover equipment when staff leave.
  • Asset Tracking: Maintain an updated inventory of IT hardware, software licenses, and equipment.
  • Documentation: Record support requests, fixes, and procedures within a ticketing system or knowledge base.

Requirements

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum, though many employers prefer an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology.
  • Certifications: Common accreditations include CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills to assist non-technical staff.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to physically install equipment, which may involve lifting heavy devices (up to 50 pounds) and accessing tight spaces under desks or in server rooms.
