Job description
- Build cable assemblies, harnesses, and patch cables to precise specifications and drawings.
- Construct and assemble rack elevations, cable trays, and other prefabricated components according to build specs and blueprints.
- Measure, cut, and assemble components with a high degree of accuracy - squareness, alignment, and consistency are critical.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and build-of-material (BOM) instructions.
- Label, organize, and stage completed assemblies for shipment and field installation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and (once trained) cable testing equipment to complete and verify work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, following all warehouse safety protocols.
- Work collaboratively with team leads and engineers to meet build schedules and quality standards.
- Keep accurate records of completed builds and materials used.
- As skills develop, take on more advanced low-voltage tasks - terminations, fiber optic work, testing, and eventually on-site data center installation.
Requirements
You donât need data center or cabling experience to apply. In fact, we prefer you donât have it yet. Weâre looking for people with a strong construction or trades background who take pride in accurate, clean work - and weâll train you on the low-voltage and cabling side from the ground up. Many of our best data center technicians started exactly where you are now: skilled with tools and blueprints, new to cabling.
If youâve got a background in framing, finish carpentry, electrical rough-in, millwork, industrial fabrication, or similar trades - this is a place to grow into a specialized, in-demand technical field with real career advancement., Weâre seeking detail-oriented, tools-savvy tradespeople to join our prefabrication team, building cable assemblies, rack elevations, and infrastructure components in a controlled warehouse environment before theyâre shipped and installed in live data centers. This is an entry point into the low-voltage and data center industry - no prior cabling or IT experience required. Weâll train you on cabling, terminations, testing, and industry standards on the job., * High school diploma or equivalent.
- Background in a skilled trade preferred - construction, carpentry, framing, electrical (residential/commercial), millwork, industrial fabrication, HVAC, or similar hands-on trades.
- Strong grasp of measurement, tolerances, and precision assembly (e.g., knows what âsquare,â âlevel,â and âplumbâ mean and how to check for them).
- Comfortable reading blueprints, technical drawings, or assembly diagrams.
- Proficient with common hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in clean, accurate work.
- Ability to follow written specifications and instructions closely.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and on a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active warehouse environment (standing, bending, repetitive tasks).
- No prior low-voltage, cabling, fiber optic, or data center experience required - this will be trained in-house.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Any exposure to blueprints/schematics in a construction or industrial setting.
- Experience in a fast-paced production or assembly-line environment.
- Interest in eventually transitioning to on-site data center installation work.
Benefits & conditions
- This role is a starting point, not a ceiling. As you build cabling and low-voltage skills, youâll have the opportunity to move toward:
- Structured cabling installation (Cat5e/6/6A, fiber, coax)
- Networking equipment installation and rack builds on live data center floors
- Industry certifications (BICSI, CompTIA Network+) supported/sponsored by the company
- Full Data Center Technician responsibilities, including on-site installation, testing, and troubleshooting
