Job description

We are seeking an experienced Pharos Print Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead and execute the upgrade of aging corporate print environment. Clientrecently deployed a brand-new fleet of printers, replacing hardware that was roughly 10 years old. However, legacy Pharos environment is currently offline/failing due to the old hardware retiring.

We need a hands-on engineer to bridge the gap: assess our current legacy Pharos configuration, determine the correct upgrade path, interface with the vendor/reseller if necessary to push licensing through, and configure the new printer fleet to restore secure print operations., * Environment Assessment: Audit the legacy Pharos database and server architecture (likely running an older version of Blueprint or Uniprint) to plan a clean upgrade or migration path.

  • Fleet Integration: Configure and deploy the newly installed printer fleet within the Pharos ecosystem (including Secure Release, embedded software clients, and print queues).
  • Upgrade & Migration Execution: Lead the technical upgrade to the latest supported version (e.g., Blueprint 6.x or a migration to Pharos Cloud) ensuring database integrity and minimal user disruption.
  • Driver & Queue Optimization: Build and deploy updated universal print drivers (UPD) and queues compatible with Windows Server / modern workstations.
  • Vendor Liaison: Work alongside our internal IT team to escalate and resolve outstanding licensing, quotation, or tier-2 support issues directly with Pharos Systems.

Requirements

  • Deep Pharos Expertise: Proven experience architectural designing, installing, and upgrading Pharos Blueprint Enterprise or Pharos Uniprint.
  • Hardware Modernization Experience: Experience transitioning legacy Pharos environments from older, end-of-life MFP (Multi-Function Printer) hardware to modern multi-vendor fleets.
  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Strong understanding of Windows Print Servers, SQL Server database administration (for Pharos DB migration), and Active Directory/Entra ID integration.
  • Network Printing Protocols: Solid grasp of TCP/IP printing, secure release workflows, and embedded terminal configurations (i_InEO, Sentry Print, etc.).
  • Problem Solver: Ability to work efficiently under time constraints to restore broken business workflows.

Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
