Job description
The Computer Support Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware, classroom technology, access control and any network related problems. Install new hardware, software upgrades and patches, network and phone cabling as required. Organizes Student Technical Assistants and works with other computer support staff as necessary to support technology. This position will has nonstandard work hours to meet the service needs of the LMU community., Knowledge of college policies and procedures affecting assigned work, knowledge of current information technology, knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and methods, related to equipment, knowledge of computer hardware and software, maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware and software skills, skill in assisting users with problem determination and resolution, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public, & skills in presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing. Job Duty promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large; Job Duty promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students; Job Duty participate on university committees; Job Duty installs new equipment and software and upgrades as needed; Job Duty maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs computer hardware and software to assist users; Job Duty troubleshoots network problems; Job Duty isolates problems; Job Duty performs repairs; Job Duty installs and terminates cables for network connectivity; Job Duty tests cables and other equipment as needed; Job Duty configures computers and peripheral hardware to established specifications; Job Duty makes adjustments to specifications as needed by users; Job Duty ensures appropriate phone connectivity is available as needed; Job Duty installs and configures network printers; Job Duty connects users to network; Job Duty completes or assists in the completion of required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University; and Job Duty performs other duties as assigned. Requirements
*associate degree in computer science or related field; *two years repair and networking experience; or *any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been derived.
