Job description
The Security Specialist Level III designs and governs enterprise AWS security for cloud platform and hybrid IT environments, providing senior leadership for cloud security architecture, zero-trust implementation, compliance, and security operations. This role is accountable for ensuring that cloud workloads and data assets are protected in accordance with federal cybersecurity requirements and agency policies.
What you’ll do
- Lead AWS cloud security architecture and governance across enterprise platform environments
- Design and oversee security controls for complex multi-account, multi-environment AWS deployments
- Guide zero-trust implementation, identity governance, encryption, logging, monitoring, and data protection practices
- Align cloud security operations with federal cybersecurity requirements and agency policy
- Partner with platform, infrastructure, and compliance teams across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or a related field
- Approximately 10+ years of AWS/cloud security experience, including enterprise-level security architecture and governance responsibilities
- Expert-level proficiency with AWS security services such as IAM, CloudTrail, Config, GuardDuty, Security Hub, KMS, and WAF
- Demonstrated experience designing and overseeing security for complex, multi-account, multi-environment AWS deployments integrated with on-prem or hybrid infrastructures
- U.S. work authorization without sponsorship and eligibility for a Public Trust clearance
Nice to have
- CISSP, CCSP, Security+, AWS Security Specialty, or GIAC certifications
- Experience with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, FISMA, or agency-specific security requirements
- Experience building security guardrails with infrastructure as code and policy-as-code tooling
Clearance Requirement
This position supports a federal contract and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination. Existing or prior Public Trust clearance is preferred but not required unless specified by the client.
