Job description

I’m Sara Hedenström, Head of Tech Content Voyage, and I’m searching for someone ready to grow with us. We’re a supportive, forward-thinking team focused on our mission to make entertainment deeply personal and intuitive. We are looking for a skilled Data Scientist to be the strategic brain behind our personalization features. In this role, you will act as the vital bridge between billions of behavioral signals and the intelligent features our viewers love. If you are passionate about training advanced machine learning models and want to see your algorithms directly shape what millions of people watch and discover, this is the role for you.

What you’ll do:

Build and scale deep learning models (ML Engineering & Data Science).

  • Build deep learning models: You will develop, optimize, and productionize our deep learning models using TensorFlow and Keras on GCP.
  • Orchestrate MLOps: Own end-to-end ML lifecycles using Vertex AI Pipelines and DVC, automating deployments with GitHub Actions and managing infrastructure via Terraform.
  • Drive experimentation: Design and execute rigorous A/B tests to measure the real-world impact of your models on user engagement and recommendation quality.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Data Engineers, Product Managers, Backend, and Client teams to design ML features and ensure they are successfully delivered to users.
  • Model validation & analytics: Dive deep into the data using Python (Pandas, Polars) and SQL to understand model behavior, identify biases, and continuously improve prediction accuracy.
  • Shape our AI future: Bring a deep curiosity for modern ML techniques to help scale our infrastructure and build the next generation of adaptive, intelligent discovery features., At Telia, we recognize talent by professional skills and growth potential. We champion diversity, ensuring every individual’s needs are met, regardless of disability, gender, age, nationality, sexual orientation, or social status. Together, we’re dedicated to fostering an inclusive work environment where your uniqueness is our strength.

Requirements

You are a strong communicator with the ability to explore and learn as we go. We believe in high standards with a playful mindset.

  • You are an experienced Data Scientist with proven hands-on experience building, training, and deploying production ML models on GCP (Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Storage).
  • You have strong deep learning fundamentals and practical experience with TensorFlow/Keras, especially for recommendation systems, ranking, or retrieval tasks.
  • You are proficient in Python and SQL, comfortable with data processing libraries (Pandas, Polars), and understand how to optimize queries and data pipelines for performance.
  • You have strong ownership and care deeply about code quality, writing tests, documenting your work, and building systems that are reliable, maintainable, and easy for others to understand and extend.
  • You have a genuine passion for AI/ML and personalization. You are energized by seeing your algorithms directly change user behavior. You want your models to help millions of people spend less time browsing and more time enjoying the content they love.

Benefits & conditions

At Telia, we care about your well-being, growth, and sense of belonging:

  • Additional health insurance and pension plans
  • Workation: work from anywhere in the EU for up to 30 days per year
  • Extra vacation days based on tenure (up to 5 additional days)
  • Discounts on Telia services, including free home internet
  • Partner offers and discounts (SPA, cafes, events)
  • Telia Kids Club: summer camps for employees’ children
  • Company-supported sports activities (yoga, basketball, running)
  • Internal training, leadership programs and job shadowing to explore new roles

and more.

Monthly salary range for this position: 4,300-6,500 EUR gross + annual performance/sales bonuses. The final offer may vary depending on your skills and experience.
