Job description

The Programmer supports manufacturing by creating computer files and nests for cutting steel using a fiber laser, high-definition plasma table, and robotic high-definition plasma system as well as other machinery as needed. Provide additional support including recommendations for optimizing to increase throughput and troubleshooting issues on the floor., * Responsible for creating laser, plasma and other equipment programs for production, including .DXF files for individual parts and nesting full sheets.

  • Learn the processes of the shop to analyze help and provide input on process flow/improvement.
  • Support machine operators by helping to troubleshoot cutting issues.

  • Work with equipment and file settings to monitor quality control of items produced on the equipment. This includes but is not limited to cut quality and hole quality.
  • Provide backup when needed to fabricators.
  • Investigate machine settings and nesting techniques to increase quality, machine performance, and throughput.

  • Properly identify shapes such as sheet, plate, channel, tube, and flat bar along with their thickness and gauge. Identify material types such as mild steel and stainless steel.

  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • To have hand and arm (or equivalent) dexterity adequate to allow for extensive use of a keyboard for data entry and design functions.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • To talk and hear with enough proficiency to allow for communicating by phone or in person.
  • To have adequate vision to accommodate frequent viewing of computer screens and written/printed information.
  • The noise level is usually moderate., Works at the Norwood Young America facility or Waconia facility as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Sawing?, * Able to manipulate, analyze and interpret CAD and SolidWorks drawings.

  • Knowledge of CNC brake, punch, shear, rollers, and other equipment basic fabrication equipment.
  • Must always adhere to company safety standards.

  • Knowledge of mechanical drafting practices.

  • Familiar with using measurement tools such as a tape measure, square, protractor, micrometer and caliper.
  • Able to follow directions, ask questions, and learn from coworkers.

  • Strong math and geometry skills.
  • Accurate and detail oriented, producing work in a timely manner without errors.
  • Successfully work in a fast-paced environment, independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn quickly and a willingness to take on additional workload as needed.

  • Willing to work the hours needed and committed to meeting deadlines.

  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organization and documentation skills.

  • Possess knowledge of Microsoft Outlook tools (Word, Excel, and Outlook)., * Two year drafting technical certificate, degree or relevant work experience.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • Possesses qualities such as productivity, dependability, resourcefulness, efficiency, and professionalism.
  • Experience in AutoCAD and SolidWorks or comparable software.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years Pro Nest experience.

  • Experience operating CNC equipment such as a punch, plasma table, brake, or band saw.

Benefits & conditions

Compensation: $23-35/hour based on experience.
