Job description
- The team, Three squads (Application Platform, Core Infrastructure, Control Plane). You set the direction, run the hiring, grow engineers, and are accountable for the team’s delivery and health.
- The platform roadmap, Translate business- and engineering strategy into a multi-quarter infrastructure plan, and defend the trade-offs to leadership and to the team.
- Reliability, Own SLOs, incident response, on-call sustainability, and the blameless post-incident process. Reduce toil structurally, not heroically.
- Datacenter strategy, Drive consolidation of our on-prem footprint, the buildout of new sites, and the boundary between what we run ourselves and what we buy.
- Cost and capacity, Own the infrastructure budget, capacity planning, and hardware lifecycle.
- Cross-team interface, Be the partner for product, engineering, security, and IT. Make the platform something teams choose to use, not something they route around.
- A security-focused mindset and a high sense of taking ownership and responsibility.

- Tech stack: Kubernetes, distributed storage (Ceph or equivalent), Linux systems, networking (BGP/EVPN, firewalls, L4/L7 load balancing), messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), relational databases (MariaDB/Postgres), GitOps (ArgoCD), GCP., To all recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited CVs/Candidate Profiles. Requirements
- 8+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering, including significant experience running production on-premises (not cloud-only)
- Demonstrated leadership: line management of engineers, or tech-lead-plus scope with real accountability for a team’s output. Formal management experience is welcome; a strong senior/staff engineer ready to step into their first Team Head role is equally welcome.
- You have a collaborative approach to how you work and ensure all groups are communicating with an understanding of your process and approach.
- You’re highly organised and have the ability to work on intricate details without losing the big picture.
- Fluency in the operational disciplines: observability, capacity planning, change management, incident command.
- Excellent written communication in English. You can write a design doc, a RFC, and a post-incident review that people actually read.
- You’re resourceful and solutions focused, making practical considerations for all groups involved.
- Outcome-driven: you track reliability, cost efficiency, and engineering velocity as business metrics, not just technical ones
- You’re a natural problem solver and have strong analytical skills.
- You’re a self learner and have an inquisitive mind., * Knowledge about financial services, market data, or another low-latency - high correctness industry.
- German (we work in English; German is useful but not required).
- Experience in regulated or high-compliance industries (NIS2, ISO27001, SOC2, GDPR, data sovereignty, ITIL).
