Job description

Assess existing SSRS reports and SQL Server analytics assets, document report inventory, datasets, dependencies, calculations, filters, and migration complexity.

  • Design and develop Grafana dashboards that replicate or enhance existing SSRS reporting capabilities using reliable visualizations, variables, and user-friendly navigation.

  • Create and optimize ClickHouse SQL queries for large-scale analytics with appropriate data modeling, partitioning, sorting keys, materialized views, and query tuning techniques.

  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to define ingestion, transformation, and data validation requirements for ClickHouse as the target analytics platform.

  • Implement Grafana alerting for key operational/business metrics, including severity levels, thresholds, routing, and notification configuration.

  • Validate report outputs against legacy SSRS/SQL Server results, reconcile discrepancies, and document any changes in metric definitions or business rules.

  • Establish dashboard performance standards, reusable patterns, naming conventions, access controls, and monitoring best practices.

  • Prepare technical documentation, migration runbooks, KT materials, and support handover to operations/business users.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in BI/reporting, analytics engineering, observability, or data platform implementation.

  • Hands-on experience building Grafana dashboards using variables, templating, transformations, drilldowns, annotations, alert rules, notification channels/contact points, and dashboard-as-code practices where applicable.

  • Strong understanding of Click House architecture including Merge Tree engines, partitions, primary/sort keys, materialized views, projections, compression, distributed tables, and replication/sharding concepts.

  • Experience converting SQL Server / T-SQL based analytics, stored logic, or SSRS report datasets into Click House-compatible SQL and optimized analytical query patterns.

  • Ability to analyze existing SSRS reports, identify metrics/KPIs, map datasets, validate business logic, and recreate equivalent or improved visualizations in Grafana.

  • Strong SQL skills with focus on aggregation, window functions, joins, time-series queries, query profiling, explain plans, and performance tuning for high-volume analytical workloads.

  • Working knowledge of near real-time analytics pipelines, ingestion patterns, data freshness, alert thresholds, SLA/SLO monitoring, and dashboard performance best practices.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, communicate migration risks, document assumptions, and support UAT/business validation.
