Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Native Application Developer to join our Keeper USA team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain native mobile applications for iOS and Android in support of a current VA software platform, extending its existing web-based functionality to a native mobile experience. Involved in planning mobile system architecture and deployment, as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Design mobile user interfaces and user experiences to meet the specific needs of Veteran end users. Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls., * Designs and codes native mobile applications following specifications using the appropriate tools and platform SDKs (iOS/Xcode, Android/Android Studio).

  • Maintains and modifies existing native mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Integrates native applications with backend RESTful APIs and services.
  • Analyzes detailed system factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.
  • Participates in code reviews to represent reviewed work for adherence to standards and specifications.
  • Writes or revises program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides in accordance with standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot production application issues, including platform-specific (iOS/Android) bugs and performance issues.
  • Manages app builds, versioning, and submission processes through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including compliance with platform review guidelines.
  • Promote and drive innovation in technologies, processes, and tools.
  • Use unit and integration testing (including on-device/emulator testing) to ensure systems meet business needs.

Requirements

  • This role requires the successful completion of a U.S. Government Public Trust background investigation. Candidates must be eligible to meet this requirement - MANDATORY
  • U.S. citizenship for a minimum of five consecutive years, due to U.S. Government contract and Public Trust eligibility requirements. - MANDATORY
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years (or commensurate experience) - MANDATORY
  • Experience in an agile environment like Scrum or SAFe.
  • At least five years of direct, continuous work experience developing native iOS applications.
  • Experience developing cross-platform native mobile applications using React Native and/or Expo, including building reusable components, managing app navigation, integrating APIs, and preparing apps for iOS and Android deployment.
  • Experience with Xcode, Android Studio, and native platform SDKs and frameworks.
  • Experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs within mobile applications.
  • Understanding of mobile-specific concerns: offline data handling, local storage/caching, push notifications, background processing, and app lifecycle management.
  • Experience with mobile app security best practices, including secure storage of sensitive data and authentication/authorization flows (e.g., OAuth, biometric authentication).
  • Experience managing the app store submission and release process (Apple App Store Connect, Google Play Console).
  • Experience with mobile testing frameworks and tools and device/emulator testing across OS versions.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile builds (e.g., Fastlane, AWS CodePipeline, App Center).
  • Experience with crash reporting and mobile performance monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Firebase Crashlytics).
  • Experience with accessibility standards for mobile applications (Section 508, WCAG).
  • Experience with push notification services (APNs, Firebase Cloud Messaging).
  • Experience with biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, Android Biometric API).
  • Experience supporting public-facing mobile applications with a large user base.
  • Experience with VA and/or other Federal Agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in a remote work environment, * This position is open to U.S. citizens only with at least four years of citizenship. Are you a U.S. citizen?
