Backend & Services Engineer

• Service Integration: Build, optimize, and maintain the microservices that connect the customer portal to our downstream translator service.
• API & Data Processing: Design and implement robust, low-latency API layers (REST and gRPC) within the translator engine to handle intensive data processing workloads.
• Data Architecture Management: Administer and query specialized data layers, including time-series logs, high-performance caches, and vector databases.
• Infrastructure & Automation: Own the deployment lifecycle. Write clean Dockerfiles, configure Caddy reverse proxies, manage AWS infrastructure, and automate environments using Makefiles and shell scripts.
• Analytics & Monitoring: Integrate and manage Metabase instances connected to our data stores to provide system health, performance, and usage visibility.

Plan A Technologies is looking for a highly skilled, versatile Backend & Services Engineer to design, build, and maintain the critical systems bridging our customer-facing portal and our core translation engines. This is a pure backend and infrastructure role focused on high-performance service architecture, data pipelines, and system reliability outside of direct AI model training.

Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience as Backend Engineer to be considered for this role., * 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems, APIs, and data-driven applications.

• Strong hands-on experience with Golang and C#, used to build core backend services, high-concurrency systems, translation engine components, and API layers.
• Experience with TypeScript / JavaScript (Node.js) for developing backend services that support and integrate with customer-facing applications and portals.
• Proficiency in Python for building data processing workflows, automation scripts, and backend tooling.
• Experience with Rust is a strong plus, particularly for developing performance-critical components and low-level system functionality.
• Solid understanding of containerization and deployment workflows, including Docker, multi-stage builds, and Docker Compose.
• Experience managing application routing and infrastructure components using tools such as Caddy or similar reverse proxy technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, including deploying, managing, and supporting backend services in a cloud environment.
• Familiarity with automation and developer productivity tools, including Shell scripting (Bash/Sh), Makefiles, and npm-based workflows.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and advanced SQL, including experience designing database structures, optimizing queries, and working with TimescaleDB for time-series data, logging, and metrics.
• Experience with Redis for caching, message brokering, and distributed application patterns, including understanding of cache invalidation strategies and publish/subscribe mechanisms.
• Experience working with vector databases, such as Milvus DB, including concepts like vector indexing, similarity search, and managing AI-driven retrieval systems.
• Experience integrating analytics and monitoring solutions such as Metabase, including creating queries, dashboards, and reports for internal business intelligence and system visibility.
