Job description

The Senior Solution Architect - Oracle HCM is a senior-level, short-term contract position responsible for special projects that improve system functionality, automate business processes, and increase operational efficiency through Oracle Fusion Cloud. The role supplements internal ERP support by providing advanced Oracle HCM and Benefits expertise for complex projects, optimization initiatives, and specialized technical-functional solution design. Reporting to the HR Systems & Analytics Manager, the contractor collaborates closely with the internal ERP team and produces sustainable documentation that supports technical feasibility, long-term maintainability, quarterly releases, and future regulatory or compliance-related changes. This temporary assignment is expected to last six to nine months., * Supports special projects focused on improving system efficiency, automation, data quality, and process effectiveness within Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM.

  • Serves as a senior subject matter expert for Oracle HCM Benefits, providing guidance on configuration, solution design, troubleshooting, administration, and optimization opportunities.
  • Reviews current-state HR processes and identifies practical improvements across Core HR, Payroll, Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC), Compensation, Benefits, and Absence Management.
  • Gathers and clarifies business requirements and translates them into actionable system recommendations, configuration approaches, and solution designs.
  • Recommends scalable Oracle Fusion Cloud solutions that reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen data quality and process controls.
  • Designs or advises on Oracle Redwood and Visual Builder Studio personalization approaches that improve usability and support business process objectives.
  • Develops, reviews, tests, and debugs Fast Formulas to support Benefits and other HCM process requirements.
  • Uses SQL and PL/SQL to support analysis, issue investigation, data validation, and system-related problem solving.
  • Advises stakeholders on SOAP API, REST API, HDL, extract-based, and OIC-supported automation approaches, as appropriate.
  • Evaluates configuration options and cross-module impacts, particularly where decisions affect multiple HCM modules or downstream processes.
  • Supports testing by defining scenarios, reviewing test scripts, validating expected outcomes, and assisting with issue identification and resolution.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for requirements, solution recommendations, configuration decisions, process changes, assumptions, risks, testing outcomes, and implementation considerations.
  • Develops documentation that supports quarterly releases, ongoing maintenance, audit readiness, and changes related to regulatory or compliance requirements.
  • Collaborates with project leads, business stakeholders, vendors, and technical resources to support successful execution of assigned initiatives.
  • Provides senior-level analysis and recommendations regarding Oracle HCM issues, enhancements, optimization opportunities, and special project needs.
  • Provides knowledge transfer and sustainable documentation that support long-term maintenance of implemented improvements.Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the scope and level of the position., * Work is performed primarily in a typical office or remote work environment and requires extended periods of computer-based work and virtual collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The noise level is generally low to moderate, consistent with a typical office setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience working with Oracle HCM systems, including senior-level functional leadership, solution design, and system optimization.
  • Expert-level experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM, including deep specialization in Benefits configuration, troubleshooting, administration, and process improvement.
  • Experience using SQL and PL/SQL to support analysis, troubleshooting, validation, and system-related problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle HCM SOAP and REST APIs, including automation use cases involving HCM Data Loader (HDL), Benefits Extracts, and related data movement processes.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting public-sector, municipal, or other highly regulated organizations.
  • Experience creating, reviewing, and validating test scenarios, test scripts, and user acceptance testing materials.
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams on Oracle integration design and data exchange patterns.Familiarity with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) for Oracle HCM integration, orchestration, and automation, particularly Benefits-related data exchanges and vendor connectivity.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM, especially Benefits, with a strong understanding of Core HR, Payroll, Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC), Compensation, and Absence Management.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end HCM business processes and the operational impacts of design decisions across employee data, benefits administration, payroll, recruiting, compensation, and leave administration.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Redwood user experience considerations and Visual Builder Studio personalizations that support usability and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of Fast Formula design, troubleshooting, testing, and debugging, particularly for Benefits, Absence Management, Payroll, and related HCM processes.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud configuration strategy, approvals, workflows, security concepts, quarterly releases, and change impacts.
  • Knowledge of Oracle HCM SOAP and REST APIs, HCM data movement methods, HDL, extracts, and practical automation approaches.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL for troubleshooting, analysis, and validation.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP touchpoints relevant to workforce and business operations.
  • Skill in translating business requirements into effective Oracle Fusion Cloud configurations, solution options, process flows, and technical-functional recommendations.
  • Skill in documenting requirements, design decisions, assumptions, risks, testing outcomes, configurations, and support considerations.
  • Skill in producing sustainable documentation that supports future maintenance, audit readiness, quarterly releases, and regulatory or policy-driven changes.
  • Skill in evaluating current-state processes and identifying opportunities for automation, simplification, data-quality improvement, and system-enabled efficiency.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and recommend scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Ability to balance business priorities, system capabilities, technical feasibility, timelines, and long-term supportability.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, functional leads, project managers, vendors, and technical teams.
