Job description

As a Senior Product Owner, Guardian Insights you will help shape Guardian’s next-generation reporting and insights platform for group customers and brokers. You will redefine how employers and brokers understand key topics like plan performance, costs, and network engagement-enabling smarter decisions and better outcomes. You will translate the product vision into execution by owning the team backlog, guiding customer experience decisions, and driving delivery across data ingestion, APIs, event-driven workflows, and key engagement features. The role requires strong product instincts, technical fluency, and a bias toward decisive action, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to deliver meaningful customer and business value.

You will:

  • Translate the product vision and strategy into a team backlog, including user stories with clear acceptance criteria and tasks, ensuring alignment with epics and customer needs

  • Work closely with the Product Manager (PDM) to prioritize and implement process improvements, track progress and communicate updates to stakeholders

  • Define, prioritize, and sequence product features and requirements in the team backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs

  • Manage the backlog and roadmap in collaboration with the Tech Lead

  • Break down data requirements into the team backlog and ensure timely and quality delivery of product functionality and desired customer experience

  • Work with data and AI SMEs to ensure data and AI standards are met across applications

  • Conduct go-to-market readiness activities as the team prepares for release, including reviewing the release plan with the PDM

  • Bring customer feedback into prioritization to improve adoption, usability, and product impact.

  • Maintain a consistent, practical quality bar-clear outcomes, intuitive user experiences, and reliable data-while saying ā€œnoā€ thoughtfully to lower-value work to protect team focus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in product management or a related field

  • Proven experience in defining and driving product roadmaps, integrating customer research, and ensuring compliance with data/AI standards

  • Strong knowledge of product journey mapping, business process improvement, and OKR management

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, excellent communication, and teamwork skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Hands-on experience with APIs, payload structures, and common integration patterns.

  • Comfort working with relational databases (e.g., RDS, Aurora, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with event-driven architectures (e.g., SNS, Kafka) and transactional email systems (e.g., SES, SendGrid).

  • Experience supporting user-facing features, including web interfaces and email experiences.

  • A high ownership mindset, resourcefulness, and the ability to move quickly and figure things out.

Required skills:

  • Objectives and Key Results (OKR)

  • Product Requirements & Backlog Management

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

  • Solution Delivery

  • API and integration pattern familiarity

  • Understanding of relational databases and data models

  • Experience with event-driven architectures

  • Strong product judgment and prioritization
