Job description

The IT Healthcare Consultant - Project Manager will oversee and manage projects related to Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) within the Bureau of Medicaid Systems. This role involves coordinating the implementation and replacement of MMIS systems, ensuring project milestones are met, and working closely with stakeholders in a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate MMIS system projects and replacement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure project success.
  • Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and security requirements.
  • Participate in virtual interviews and onboarding processes as required., * Candidate must be a South Carolina resident or willing to relocate prior to start.
  • Hybrid work model: initial onsite presence for 30-90 days, then hybrid at manager’s discretion.
  • Security clearance required.
  • Withdrawn candidates cannot be replaced.
  • Use of sub-vendors limited to one level deep with prior approval.

Scheduling:

  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
  • Work schedule includes 3 days in office and 2 days remote after initial onsite period.
  • Contract duration: 12 months with possibility for extension.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience in IT healthcare consulting or project management, preferably with MMIS systems.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid systems and related healthcare IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with onsite presence as required.
  • Must be a resident of South Carolina or willing to relocate at own expense prior to starting.
  • Security clearance as required by the position.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience with state healthcare systems and Medicaid projects.
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, CAPM) are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with virtual collaboration tools and remote work best practices.
