Job description
Provident’s Data Center development platform continues to grow, bringing with it an expanding roster of clients who expect technical expertise from the earliest stages of a project, not only at the point of contract. The Solutions Engineer serves as that technical presence: leading site evaluations, translating customer power and cooling requirements into engineered, costed solutions, and remaining engaged with each opportunity through construction.
The role sits at the intersection of customer confidence and internal execution You’ll translate business and technical requirements into engineered solutions, keeping opportunities moving and giving customers a best-in-class experience working with Provident., Customer Engagement
- Lead site tours, technical sales calls, and solution presentations for Provident’s largest data center customers.
- Support pricing discussions and negotiate technical terms through contract execution.
Solution Design
- Translate customer power, cooling, and space requirements into engineered, costed solutions.
- Manage RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses from technical scoping through submission.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on data center infrastructure, building systems, and white-space fit-outs.
Internal Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and Provident’s Development team.
- Support pipeline reviews, forecasting, and account planning for strategic accounts.
Market Presence
- Represent Provident at industry conferences and technical forums.
- Monitor data center industry trends and communicate relevant insights to account teams., Strategic customers engage the role early in the opportunity lifecycle based on confidence in the individual’s technical judgment. Technical Ownership Proposed solutions remain accurate through construction, with minimal scope-related change orders. Cross-Functional Collaboration Design & Construction, Operations, and commercial teams regard the individual as a reliable technical liaison. Communication The individual presents the same solution effectively to both technical staff and senior business stakeholders. Execution Opportunities progress without delay, supported by timely RFP responses and pricing turnaround.
Requirements
Education & Technical Foundation
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Hands-on, in-field experience with electrical/power or mechanical/cooling systems within a data center environment., * Minimum of 5 years of experience with a data center or colocation provider, or eight years in an adjacent field such as telecommunications, networking, engineering consulting, or mission-critical facilities.
- Pre-sales experience in a Solutions Engineering or Sales Engineering capacity; quota-carrying sales experience is not required, though candidates should be comfortable partnering closely with sales teams and engaging directly with customers.
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer requirements into viable technical solutions, with experience collaborating across engineering, construction, operations, and commercial functions.
Skills & Tools
- Technical depth in at least one of the following areas: networking, electrical systems, cooling systems, monitoring and controls, or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience engaging senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities with a high degree of organization and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat.
