Job description

Our team works on a range of web applications, internal business platforms and technology projects for clients across the United Kingdom., We are looking for a Software Developer to join our growing technology team in Lisburn. This is a mid level position suited to someone who is confident building reliable applications, working with existing codebases and collaborating with other developers, analysts and project stakeholders.

You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from reviewing requirements and planning technical solutions to development, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

Design, build and maintain web applications, business systems and software features based on agreed technical and operational requirements.

Application Maintenance:

Investigate software issues, correct defects and improve the reliability, performance and usability of existing applications.

Technical Collaboration:

Work closely with developers, business analysts, project coordinators and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver suitable technical solutions.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

Write and perform application tests, review code and help ensure that new releases meet quality, security and performance standards.

Database Development:

Create and maintain database queries, data structures and application connections using SQL or similar database technologies.

System Integration:

Support the integration of internal platforms, third party services, APIs and cloud based applications.

Documentation:

Maintain clear technical documentation covering application features, system changes, testing procedures and deployment requirements.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities to improve development processes, code quality, system performance and overall user experience.

Requirements

At least 3 years of commercial software development experience, ideally involving web applications, business systems or customer facing digital platforms.

Technical Skills:

Experience with one or more modern programming languages or frameworks such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, C Sharp or .NET.

Database Knowledge:

Practical experience working with SQL databases, data queries and application database connections.

Development Practices:

Understanding of version control, debugging, software testing, code reviews and structured development processes.

Problem Solving:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate technical issues and develop practical solutions.

Communication:

Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical matters with both technical and non technical colleagues.

Education:

A degree, diploma or relevant professional qualification in Software Development, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Mindset:

You are dependable, organised and comfortable managing several development tasks. You care about producing stable software, meeting agreed deadlines and continuing to improve your technical knowledge.
