At BrainSpark Digital Services, we build reliable software products that help organisations improve efficiency, connect with customers, and modernise their operations., We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can design, develop, and improve scalable applications while contributing to technical decisions across the software development lifecycle.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, business analysts, quality assurance specialists, and other engineers to transform complex requirements into secure, maintainable, and high-performing software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable software applications that meet approved technical and business requirements.

Technical Architecture:

Contribute to application architecture, system design, technology selection, integration planning, and long-term technical improvements.

Code Quality:

Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-documented code that follows agreed engineering standards and development practices.

Code Reviews:

Review code produced by other engineers, provide constructive feedback, and help maintain consistent quality across the development team.

System Integration:

Develop and maintain integrations between internal applications, third-party platforms, databases, cloud services, and external application programming interfaces.

Performance Improvement:

Analyse application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements that increase reliability, speed, and scalability.

Testing:

Create and maintain automated tests, support quality assurance activities, and ensure software changes meet functional and technical expectations.

Technical Troubleshooting:

Investigate complex software defects, production incidents, integration failures, and performance issues.

Security:

Apply secure coding practices, protect sensitive information, review system vulnerabilities, and support compliance with relevant data protection requirements.

Deployment Support:

Assist with release planning, deployment activities, production monitoring, rollback procedures, and post-release validation.

Technical Documentation:

Maintain architecture notes, development standards, system diagrams, application documentation, and operational support information.

Project Collaboration:

Work with product, design, analysis, and delivery teams to clarify requirements, estimate development work, and plan realistic implementation schedules.

Continuous Improvement:

Recommend improvements to development processes, technical tools, application architecture, testing practices, and deployment workflows.

Mentoring:

Support junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, problem-solving sessions, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional software development experience, including responsibility for complex applications, system integrations, or cloud-based solutions.

Education:

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

Programming Knowledge:

Strong experience with one or more modern programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, C Sharp, or PHP.

Development Frameworks:

Practical experience with frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, Node.js, .NET, Django, Laravel, Spring, or similar technologies.

Database Knowledge:

Good understanding of relational and non-relational databases, data modelling, query optimisation, and secure data access.

Cloud Experience:

Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, containerisation, or cloud-based application delivery is preferred.

Engineering Practices:

Strong understanding of version control, automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, code reviews, and agile development.

Problem Solving:

Ability to analyse complex technical problems, evaluate possible solutions, and make sound engineering decisions.

Communication Skills:

Strong spoken and written English is required, together with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

Leadership Skills:

Ability to guide technical discussions, support less-experienced engineers, and contribute to decisions without requiring a formal management title.

Organisation:

Ability to manage several technical priorities, estimate development work, meet delivery commitments, and maintain accurate documentation.

Mindset:

You are analytical, collaborative, and quality-focused. You take ownership of technical problems, balance long-term engineering standards with delivery needs, and know when to improve a solution and when to release a stable working product.
