Job description

Are you a Workday expert who enjoys turning technology into better business outcomes? The City is seeking a Senior Workday HCM Analyst to serve as the lead functional and technical expert for Workday HCM. In this highly collaborative role, you’ll manage configuration, optimization, and governance for Human Resources while partnering with Payroll, Finance, Information Technology, and departments across the organization to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions.

As the Human Resources Workday subject matter expert, you’ll lead complex system initiatives, enhance business processes and ensure the integrity and performance of critical HR data and technology. This role offers the opportunity improve the employee experience and help shape the future of HR technology through continuous improvement and strategic innovation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serves as the lead analyst and subject matter expert for Workday and related HR technology systems, ensuring optimal functionality, security, performance, and compliance.
  • Configures and maintains complex Workday business processes, organizational structures, workflows, notifications, and system settings.
  • Leads the evaluation, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of system enhancements, upgrades, new functionality, and process improvements.
  • Partners with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Information Technology, and departmental leaders to analyze business needs and develop technology solutions that support organizational objectives.
  • Leads HRIS projects and initiatives, including system implementations, module deployments, process redesign efforts, data conversions, and integration projects.
  • Develops and maintains workforce analytics, dashboards, key performance indicators, and strategic reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Oversees human resources data governance practices and conducts audits to ensure data integrity, consistency, security, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provides advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Researches and evaluates new Workday functionality and emerging HR technologies and recommends solutions that improve efficiency, automation, and user experience.
  • Leads system testing efforts, including regression, integration, and user acceptance testing, ensuring successful implementation of changes.
  • Establishes and maintains HRIS standards, procedures, governance practices, and documentation.
  • Develops reporting strategies and ensures compliance with internal reporting requirements and external regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Provides technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to HR staff, system users, and less experienced analysts.
  • Collaborates with vendors and consultants to resolve issues, implement enhancements, and optimize system performance.
  • Develops and delivers training programs, user resources, and communication materials to support system adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Maintains confidentiality of employee, compensation, medical, and organizational information.

  • Translate business requirements into effective technology solutions.
  • Analyze large data sets and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making.

  • Communicate effectively with executives, managers, employees, vendors, and technical staff.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Workday Pro Certifications or equivalent Workday training.
  • Experience administering multiple Workday modules.
  • Familiarity with municipal government of public sector HRIS environments.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. Other Qualifications

  • Must obtain and maintain a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Certification.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and a driving record check, if required by the position.

Education Degree

  • Bachelors Degree (BA, BS, BBA)

Education Major

  • Computer Science, Human Resources or related field.

Education Required

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Work Experience Related

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a Human Resources environment administering, configuring, and optimizing Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Three (3) years of advanced Workday administration experience

The range listed reflects the entire range and typical placement is entry to mid range.

Pay Range: $101,228.82-$138,414.89 Annual
