Requirements

You don’t need years of MSP experience. You need the right foundation and the right mindset:

  • Some hands-on IT experience - helpdesk, desktop support, break-fix, field tech, or similar

  • Comfort with cabling - you’ve run cable before, or you’re willing to learn and do it right

  • Basic Windows troubleshooting - you know how to use ipconfig, ping, check event logs, and work through a problem step by step

  • Logical thinker - you isolate variables, test one thing at a time, and don’t give up when something doesn’t make sense

  • M365 basics - password resets, account creation, shared mailboxes, Outlook setup

  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license - you’ll be driving to client sites daily

  • Philadelphia or surrounding area resident - our clients are in the city and nearby suburbs

  • Comfortable working in nonprofit, school, and hotel environments with staff who aren’t technical

  • Google Workspace or Chromebook experience

  • Any exposure to UniFi, Meraki, or managed switches

  • Hotel systems experience - Micros PMS, Saflok, Toast POS

  • Low-voltage or electrician background

Character & Work Ethic

  • Asks questions when stuck - and documents the answer so it doesn’t happen twice

  • Treats client staff with patience and respect - especially non-technical users

  • Takes ownership - if something isn’t done right, you fix it

About the company

World Network Systems is looking for a hands-on IT Field Technician to join our team in Philadelphia. This is a field role - you’ll be on client sites every day, pulling cable, mounting access points, setting up workstations, and supporting end users. You don’t need to know everything yet. You need to show up, use your head, and figure things out. If you’re comfortable working with your hands, logical in how you troubleshoot, and reliable, we’ll build the rest together.

What You’ll Actually Do

You’ll be on client sites - nonprofits, schools, and hotels in and around Philadelphia. No two days are the same. On any given day you might be:

  • Running and terminating Cat6 cable, punching down keystones, and labeling patch panels

  • Mounting and cabling wireless access points in ceilings and hallways

  • Setting up workstations - unboxing, imaging, domain join, printer mapping

  • Troubleshooting basic connectivity issues - checking cables, ports, IP config, restarting services

  • Resetting passwords, unlocking accounts, and helping users with M365 and Outlook

  • Swapping out failed hardware - hard drives, batteries, peripherals

  • Installing and testing IP cameras and basic security hardware

  • Logging everything you do in our ticketing system with clear notes and photos

  • Escalating anything you can’t resolve to our senior engineer - knowing when to call for help is a skill

  • Representing WNS professionally at client sites - you’re the face they see every day
