The AWS Architect & Platform Engineering Lead is responsible for designing,

implementing, and operating the company’s cloud and platform infrastructure. This dual

role blends strategic architecture, hands on engineering, and platform ownership,

including SLAs, reliability, DR, security, and cost governance. The role also leads a

team of AWS engineers to deliver a stable, scalable, and modern cloud platform that, 1. Cloud Architecture & Technical Strategy

  • Architect scalable, secure, and cost-efficient AWS solutions across compute, storage, networking, and security.
  • Define reference architectures, platform patterns, and architecture modernization roadmaps (microservices, serverless, containers).
  • Lead multi account strategy, landing zone design, IAM governance, and network architecture.
  • Partner with Product, Platform, and Development leaders to align cloud strategy with business priorities.
  1. Platform Engineering & Implementation * Build and maintain platform components including CI/CD pipelines, shared services, observability stack, and deployment frameworks. * Implement infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK with strong GitOps discipline. * Drive automation across provisioning, scaling, patching, and operational workflows. * Ensure platform consistency, reliability, and performance across all environments.

  2. Platform Ownership: SLAs, Reliability, DR, Security * Own platform SLAs, uptime targets, and performance baselines; ensure adherence through proactive engineering. * Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post mortem processes; drive continuous reliability improvements. * Own Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy, including RTO/RPO definitions, failover design, and DR testing cadence. * Maintain platform security posture: IAM, secrets management, encryption, network segmentation, compliance controls. * Implement FinOps practices and continuously optimize cloud spend.

  3. AWS Administration & Operations * Manage day to day AWS administration including IAM, VPC, routing, backups, patching, and resource governance. * Maintain monitoring, logging, and observability systems (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana). * Ensure operational readiness for new services, features, and platform capabilities. * Oversee environment lifecycle management across dev, staging, and production.

  4. Leadership of AWS Engineering Team * Lead, mentor, and develop senior AWS engineers; provide technical direction, required coaching, and guidance. * Manage sprint planning, workload distribution, and delivery commitments. * Set engineering standards for IaC, CI/CD, security, automation, and documentation. * Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement., * Own AWS cloud, and platform infrastructure operations. * Establish platform SLAs, reliability baselines, and operational guardrails. * Align on enterprise platform modernization roadmap, set the foundation, and deliver initial scope of architecture improvements. * Implement DR strategy with clear RTO/RPO and testing plan. * Stabilize and optimize AWS environments and reduce operational noise. * Build a predictable delivery rhythm with AWS engineering team. * Produce and execute a clear cloud & platform strategy aligned with Product, Platform, and Development.

Pay: $165,000.00 per year

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of experience in cloud engineering, architecture, or platform engineering.
  • Deep expertise in AWS core services, VPC design, IAM, security, and multi account strategy.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • Experience with ECS/EKS, Lambda, EventBridge, and event driven architectures.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, GitOps, DevOps pipelines, and automation.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers.
  • Experience owning SLAs, DR, incident response, and operational reliability., * AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification.
  • Experience with platform engineering, internal developer platforms, or golden paths.
  • Experience with FinOps, cost governance, and cloud budget management.
  • Experience with security frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001, NIST).
