Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION: St. Thomas Aquinas High School is looking for a Level I Technology Support Technician to provide fast and reliable technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students, as well as maintain and manage the school’s software and hardware assets. This position is part of the Tech Support Department which provides support for all technology at the school including, but not limited to, PC workstations, student Chromebooks, printers, classroom technology, printers, and software. JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide accurate and timely technical support services to students, faculty and staff via telephone, chat, email, remotely, and at desk side
- Install and maintain hardware systems at a high level for students, faculty, and staff to ensure technology resources are properly functioning
- Perform repairs and troubleshooting of technology issues at the site and remotely to ensure problems are resolved timely
- Provide support for the installation, configuration, maintenance of hardware and software for desktops, laptops, wireless devices, audio-visual components, and peripherals
- Provide support at classrooms, offices, conference rooms, and all other locations on the school campus
- Inspect and recommend maintenance of technology equipment owned by in university facilities including offices, classrooms, computer labs, and clinics, as assigned
- Create, log, update, and resolve technology tickets using appropriate ticketing system in a timely manner
- Assist with the relocation of computers and other technology equipment within school campus as needed
- Process old equipment for disposal adhering to proper data destruction procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Requirements
- Must be available for on-call, weekends, and after hours as needed
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move around public areas of the school
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to safely climb ladders without assistance
- Required to assist with disaster preparedness and recovery efforts
DESIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field
- IT related certifications such as CompTIA A+
- Basic knowledge of computer and audio visual equipment and deployment of associated technology
- Basic knowledge in the safe use of various tools utilized for technical troubleshooting, repair and support including software and hand-tools
- Strong ability to communicate, both written and verbal, effectively with others
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels
