Job description

TBE is hiring a Part-Time IT & AV Support team member to expand our technology coverage and bring dedicated support to our Hebrew School, Shabbat services, and community events. This is a hands-on, people facing role that sits at the intersection of technology and community. You’ll be the person who keeps things running smoothly so staff, clergy, and congregants can focus on what matters.

This position reports directly to the IT Manager and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their technical skills in a warm, mission-driven environment.

Schedule

During the school year (September-May), approximately 22 hours per week:

  • Tuesday: 3:00-7:00 PM (Hebrew School)
  • Wednesday: 3:00-7:00 PM (Hebrew School)
  • Friday: 4:00-8:00 PM, alternating (Shabbat services)
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM-12:30 PM & 4:00-6:30 PM, alternating (Shabbat services)
  • Sunday: 8:00 AM-3:00 PM (Hebrew School)

Summer hours (June-August) are reduced to approximately 5 hours per week, with additional on-demand availability for special events and programs. Thursday availability is a plus.

What You’ll Do

Hebrew School Support

  • Set up, operate, and break down AV equipment for Hebrew School sessions
  • Provide on-site technical support for classrooms and staff during school hours
  • Troubleshoot device, display, and connectivity issues as they arise

Shabbat & Service Coverage

  • Operate hybrid (in-person + livestream) Shabbat services independently on alternating Fridays and Saturdays
  • Set up and manage AV systems including cameras, audio, and streaming equipment
  • Support clergy and program leaders with technical needs before and during services

Events & General AV

  • Assist with setup, operation, and breakdown of AV for programs and special events
  • Support temporary AV deployments for meetings, lectures, and community gatherings

Technical Support

  • Provide first-line helpdesk support for staff during scheduled hours
  • Troubleshoot devices, peripherals, and room technology including displays and conferencing systems
  • Work within Google Workspace and Zoom with supervised access

Requirements

Required:

  • Comfort with AV equipment and basic troubleshooting cameras, audio, displays, and streaming
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during services and school sessions
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, helpful presence under pressure
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends on a regular schedule

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with livestreaming platforms (YouTube Live, Zoom)
  • Familiarity with macOS devices and Google Workspace
  • Prior experience in a house of worship, school, or event production environment
  • Interest in growing into broader IT responsibilities over time
