Job description
We are seeking a service-minded IT professional to support technology across our Temple and schools. Our deep impact is dependent on smooth and seamless operations, and you will provide the support our staff, volunteers, and students need to thrive. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for day-to-day technology needs, employee onboarding and support, troubleshooting both hardware and software, classroom technology, and basic event AV support. No two days will look the same; the IT Technician will troubleshoot whatever comes their way with empathy, ingenuity, and patience. This role will report to the Director of Operations., * Provide first tier troubleshooting for hardware, software, and classroom technology tickets (computers, printers, projectors, interactive displays) for staff, faculty, and students across the temple and schools
- Configure new devices, perform routine maintenance, and maintain accurate asset/inventory records, including warranty claims
- Manage the loaner equipment checkout/check-in process
- Document recurring issues and resolutions; escalate complex tickets to the Director of Operations as appropriate
Classroom & Early Childhood Technology (15% of time)
- Serve as first-tier support for classroom technology at Briskin Elementary School and Bay-Nimoy Early Childhood Center, including staff computers, student tablets/Chromebooks, and charging carts
- Support device management (MDM) for student and classroom devices via Google Admin Console and/or Apple School Manager
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations on technology refresh recommendations and age-appropriate web content filtering for student safety
Basic AV Support for School & Temple Programs (15% of time)
- Provide basic AV setup and troubleshooting for school programs, chapel services, and Temple meetings (microphones, sound reinforcement, projection, videoconferencing)
- Support routine livestream setup for smaller programs using existing house systems
- Serve as the on-site technical liaison to TIOH’s outsourced AV production partner for major events, concerts, and High Holy Day services - coordinating access, equipment needs, and scheduling
- Assist with basic setup and teardown of AV equipment for classroom and presentation use
User Account & Access Administration (10% of time)
- Assist users with password resets and multi-factor authentication (MFA) enrollment
- Serve as backup for provisioning and deprovisioning of user accounts
- Onboard new employees with hardware, software, and account access
Network & Infrastructure Support (5% of time)
- Assist with wiring and configuration of networking equipment and endpoints
- Provide first-tier network connectivity troubleshooting
- Serve as a backup technical resource for infrastructure issues when the Director of Operations is unavailable
Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, & Campus Safety Systems Support (15% of time)
- Participate in phishing/spam mitigation efforts and user education
- Support safe handling of student and family data across school information systems (e.g., Blackbaud)
- Report security trends or concerns to the Director of Operations
- Provide first-tier support for visitor management and emergency/mass-notification systems used across the Temple and schools
Requirements
- Excellent troubleshooting instincts and a strong customer-service orientation
- Warm, patient, approachable manner - especially important when supporting young children’s classrooms and teaching staff
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tickets and priorities and meet deadlines
- Team-oriented and collaborative, comfortable working with staff, students, families, and outside vendors
- Proactive and reactive problem-solving abilities; a “yes-and” attitude
- Clear communicator who can explain technical issues to non-technical users, * 1-3 years of experience in an IT helpdesk or similar role (K-12 experience preferred)
- Knowledge of Windows and Chrome OS operating systems; familiarity with macOS and iOS a plus
- General troubleshooting knowledge across hardware, software, and network issues
- Comfortable operating basic AV equipment (microphones, projectors, videoconferencing platforms); prior AV production experience is not required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Must adhere to confidentiality requirements
- Must submit to and pass a background check, TB test, and DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting, and complete mandated-reporter training
Preferred but not required
- Experience with Google Workspace for Education administration/troubleshooting
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration/troubleshooting
- Experience with Blackbaud K-12 products or a comparable SIS/LMS
- Familiarity with Unifi networking, Jamf School or similar MDM platforms
- Experience working in an early childhood or elementary school environment
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Primarily works at a desk and computer, with regular time spent on school campuses supporting classrooms
- Ability to walk stairs regularly with equipment for use in classrooms
- Occasionally lift up to 30-50 pounds
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, stand, walk, and reach
- Some flexibility for early morning or occasional evening/weekend support tied to school and Temple programs (significantly reduced from the prior AV-production schedule, since major events are now supported by an outside vendor)
- Must have reliable transportation, Experience: 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience (entry-to-mid-level)

Salary Range: $26.44 - $31.25 DOE
